I took her Ancient and Modern Constitutions class (at Georgetown) and would very highly recommend it to anyone in government. Almost all of the readings were interesting and changed the way I thought about the foundations of government and contracts. Occasional reading responses and one 25 page final paper with your choice of topic.

Comment:
The course subject was pretty boring. Daily reading assigned. Prof analyzes and dissects it into a more understandable language. No final/midterm (which was nice), just at home essays. I did not expect to earn the grade I did, but very grateful. If you need upper div course, this is not a bad option.

She is so boring and does not engage students at all. She forces you to go to lecture and then lets you out 30min early almost every time. Worst polisci class I took at Berkeley, and it's worse because it's also the last.

Stimson's Seminar "Concepts of Constitutions" was a wonderful mix of law and political theory. With only 18 students in class, it was expected that you participate during class and contribute to the ongoing debate. Stimson does a great job at facilitating debate and clarifying any questions. 20-25 Final Paper on any topic involving constitution(s).

she is the kind of boring that makes you angry. if you're not fascinated by the most abstract concepts of political philosophy steer clear. yes, you only have to write 3 ten page papers. but they will be the worst thirty pages you've ever had to write in your life. okay im being melodramatic... but its not a fun class.

Comment:
Stimson's lectures vary. Sometimes they were really easy to understand, but sometimes she lectured on really abstract ideas I couldn't follow (or didn't care for). However, the class is set-up so you can write papers on only what really interests you and you understand. GEOFF is an amazing GSI, helpful for the assignments, and writing in general.

Very knowledgeable and helpful. Though her lectures are kind of boring because of the fact that her voice NEVER fluctuates, she is willing to help always & only requires 3 papers be turned in throughout the entire semester, that includes the final!

Yes, lectures may be unorganized however Stimson is an expert on the subject and she is very helpful, will take in and out of class if you ask for help ... grading is also very fair

Boring, no point to class, just rambles on about random collection of topics. She's smart and enthusiastic, but horrible at making her enthusiasm transfer over to her students.

I was very interested in learning about this subject, but the professor was not very inspiring. She speaks very quickly, she reads long passages to the class (what's wrong with paraphrasing, or extracting short quotes?), she does not ask the students to QUESTION the material so as to nurture future political leaders responsive to CURRENT issues

She knows what she is talking about and is very intelligent, but for people like myself who aren't really interested in political theory and are only taking this one class for whatever reason, it can be difficult to grasp! As far as writing on the board she makes it clear that it's not important just for those interested in looking it up etc.

Professor is pretty scatterbrained: her lectures are basically a bunch of buzzwords that she writes on the board, circles, and then never mentions again. The class itself is two papers and a final, so not too bad.

She is one of the best professors I have ever had. Confusion arises more from the complexity of the subject than her lecture style. She gets me excited about the topics, whereas I went into the class expecting to not care about classical economic thought. People who give her low scores are people who are not interested in what they are learning.

I dont know what she is talking about, its more ranting than anything. I dont know what the hell is going on, just some economic thinker's names being tossed around really. Do yourself a favor and take it when Karras(who is really enigmatic) teaches this class vs her.
