Wow! Seeing these reviews after taking his class makes me wonder if I'm reviewing the right person. Prof. Capo is excellent! Yes, his lectures are a bit dry, but he adds content that engages. The coursework is difficult, but this is college. I would take another class from him any day.

Thomas Capo is an excellent teacher - I studied research design with him and he was engaging and ran experiments in the class that actually worked.

One of the best professors I've had at Shady Grove. He is very bright and insightful. Can be really critical of your work so be aware of that. Follow instructions and you should be fine. Taught valuable lessons on logically tackling an argument. Super interesting.

Awesome teacher, grading for tests is unlike any I've ever seen but the system is outstanding. I went to ever class just to hear his stories. I definitely recmmend this teacher if you plan on attending and are half way intelligent.

Worst teacher I've had at UMD. His lectures are absolutely boring and completely unrelated to the text (yet he still tests you on the text for exams). He goes off on tangents every 30 seconds and speaks so slowly that it makes you want to fall asleep. For presentations he will grill you on every detail, so be prepared. Better yet, just avoid him!

If you see the name "Capo" you need to RUN. Don't look back. just RUN. I was one of the few who received an A, and I'm telling you to RUN. He's pure evil; doesn't care about his job and abuses his power. I had to study weeks before the exam just to find that the wording of the questions were more difficult than the concepts. RUN!This is not a drill

He offers what looks like the most attractive grading method and extra credit. DON'T BE FOOLED. I got an 88 and got a C in the class. YES! U heard it right, he grades based on class distribution, he is the only professor I know who does this. There are 15 extra credit points, but he somehow changes the final grade to be out of 115 instead of 100.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! I cannot emphasize that enough. Capo is above and beyond the worst teacher that I had throughout college. He is dry, and he doesn't even teach. He puts overheads up and you have to write as fast as possible to copy them down. He is very rude to his students, and clearly doesn't care about them.

Cognitive psychology is the worst class I have ever taken at UMD. Capo is dull and rude and I'm surprised I haven't fallen asleep in his class yet. Do not take that class.

Lectures are horrifyingly boring and monotone. His exams are based mostly on vocabulary from the book with some questions on experiments he covers in lecture. Read the book and know the vocabulary well and you should do fine. You can get 8% extra credit by participating in experiments outside of class so do that... otherwise take with Murnane.

he goes on and on about things that really do not matter. tests suck. too much material to cover. he does drop lowest test grade and two lowest quizes...but the tests are so hard it really does not help. no definitions..only uses scenarios.

Comment:
Incredibly boring lectures. Reading the textbook is necessary to pass. I found the material interesting, but the lectures are awful and the reliance on the book is no good. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT RESEARCH. Take with Murnane instead if possible; his class is strongly lecture oriented. Murnane offers less extra credit, but the class is likely easier.

DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH CAPO. I had no real problem with him until him (or one of his TA's) LOST my scantron for the second test and then gave me a ZERO. Rediculous. please, just dont take psyc100 with him.

Dr. , if he really is a doctor Capo is the most boring teacher alive. I think i've heard sticks talk in a less monotoned voice. I would rather be poked in the eye with a sharp stick than attend one of his lectures.

Dr Capo is a fine man, though his lectures are very boring, as is the material he assigns students to read. Unless you want to be a psychology major, do not take Dr. Capo's PSYC 100 class.

He is by no means a good teacher, but he's not the worst either. He's a little boring, and what he lectures about may seem irrelevant sometimes. His tests are a bit difficult since everything is to be in essay form, but he grades pretty easy. It takes a fair amount of effort to do well just read the text and it won't be so bad.

He seems like he tries to be a funny entertaining guy, but it doesn't work for him. His lectures are incredibly boring. Unbearable to sit through. His tests are random and hard to follow as well. However, if you can get past his teaching and don't mind thinking outside the box for tests, he calculates your final grade VERY graciously.

Well I Would NEVER recommend him to anyone. His class is so hard, not beacause of the material, but because of the exam format. You can know the textbook front and back and still fail the exam! TRUST ME! His questions are random and often seem as if he pulls them out the air. Also his lectures are boring and he talks with no emotion! DON"T TAKE HIM
