Dr. Wawrzycka is one of the hardest teachers you will ever have, but because of her passion and knowledge, it will also be the best and most informative class as long as you do the work. If you don't read the book or plan to take notes, don't bother going to class. Just take the F and go back to an easy teacher instead.

I love this woman. Dont get me wrong, the class is super hard and requires not missing any class, taking the most detailed notes in and out of class, and rereading every single story, but she herself is a wonderful woman. She never gave me anything under a 100, and will give you full credit if you try hard and seek her before/ after class for help

She is very passionate about her field of study; however, sometimes grading criteria isn't super clear. She is a tough grader, but she gives constructive feedback. The class has its ups and downs, but you will be fine if you're willing to put in an extensive amount of work.

Blood, sweat, and tears went into this course- from me, sure, but also from her. You can tell she really cares about her curriculum. She can be a bit tangential in lectures, and sometimes what she's looking for in grading can be unclear. My advice is to seek her outside the classroom and demonstrate your willingness to learn!

I heard the stories, and felt very intimidated by her at first, but her class really isnt that hard! Just read everything carefully, show up to every class, and take as detailed notes as possible. If you have questions, I found that its best to email her. She is very nice and helpful outside of class. She is energetic and loves Joyce!

Dr. Wawrzycka is hands down one of the best professors I have ever had in my college career. She is a tough grader but feedback is constructive and she makes you learn from your mistakes. She was very personable and willing to work with you. I loved going to her class because she really does make you think and is so excited with Joyce.

She is a excellent professor and very passionate about what she is teaching. BUT she is short, dismissive and cares very little for your feelings! Don't make a mistake in this class, she'll never forget or forgive you for it.

Before the class, I didn't really care for Joyce. I had never explored his work much, but she was so enthusiastic about the class and the readings that I was excited to read Dubliners. She is tough but nice. She will warn you about what she looks for in your writing so you know not to make the same mistakes again.

I took her class a few times and it wasn't until I was ready to work that I actually succeeded. The material was amazing and you get out what you put in. Yes dubliners is a must, but she is teaching you to critique a classic. I don't think I have ever worked so hard but felt so rewarded! Does an excellent job at cramming slot into one semester!

I always looked forward to class because I knew I would be laughing about something! She is seriously funny and passionate about her job. She absolutely loves to learn from her students and is pretty forgiving if you mess up, just expect to be picked on for it! You have a "reading log" due almost every week, and they can become quite tiresome.

Inspiring professor! It's clear that she has a passion for what she's teaching and makes English bearable for even the most mathscience loving students. Her directions for assignments are very specific, but if you follow what she wants you shouldn't have a problem. I love English, not my major, but I might take a class of hers in the future!

It is good to see that others have noticed her lack of enjoyment for Americans. I took her a few years ago and still feel distaste for her teaching methodology. She openly admits her distaste for Americans and the education system so I always wondered why she was here in the first place. I only made an A in her class because of Power Point.

LitCrit in a few words: be prepared to work, follow the syllabus, as well as what she says, and YOU WILL be fine. Dr. W is very intelligent and approachable. Loves Joyce, prep yourself to read Dubliners very closely. I notice a lot of complaints stemming from 200 level takers & to that i say--> aww, boohoo! her criticism is in your best interest!

Didn't really care for this teacher. Too focused on James Joyce and no other writers. I took the class for literary theory, not the Joyce class (which was a seperate) class, so didn't appreciate EVERYTHING having to revolve around Joyce. Other than that, ok class that I felt was ok, but not one that I would ever take again. Just not interesting.
