Comment:

I went to class, rewrote my notes, and listened to my recorded lectures. His tests are really hard. His style may seem like he is teaching at a slow pace by drawing on the board, but he goes into a lot of detail on topics instead of focusing on the main idea. I dropped the class and got a W. I took it with another professor and glad I did.

Comment:

He's a brilliant and passionate lecture. However, he is a tough grader. This semester he left the class really disorganized. I would not recommend to take him. If you prefer tricky tests that are multiple multiple choices (must circle all the answers to get credit) and short essay questions (memorize all the notes he draw out on the board). Awful

Comment:

Wonderful instructor. He delivers information in a very precise, intentional way that is conducive to deep learning. Difficult and time-consuming class, but you will get a lot out of it. Record and replay lectures and be prepared to study hard if you want an A. Very few A's in this class. You will not regret taking this class.

Comment:

I learned so much in this class and the material was really fascinating. Caiozzo is top notch but like someone else said, he encourages questions but then makes you feel stupid when you ask. I got used to it after awhile. I regret buying the book because I literally only opened it once. Overall an amazing class!

Comment:

I loved Professor Caiozzo. While I do agree that he writes very difficult tests it is absolutely possible to get an A. Recording his lectures is the key as he tells you everything you need to know. I didnt even buy the book. All I did was rewrite my notes and practice drawing the diagrams and had no problem scoring high on his tests.

You do not need the book for this class. Memorize everything from lecture. Keys to an A: record all lectures, write down everything on the board, and LISTEN TO RECORDINGS BEFORE following class. Be able to redraw everything written on the board from memory and you can get an A. He does not suffer fools and will not repeat himself.

Amazing professor but very difficult class. 1 C, 2 D's & 1 B on exams, still passed with a B. Take lots of (good) notes, do ALL assignments, attend all labs/lectures, and STUDY STUDY STUDY. Do all of this and you will at least pass. You really have to work for your grade here and even though it was tough, I thoroughly enjoyed this class.

This is quality education right here. You must memorize everything he writes on the board & note all the hypothetical scenarios/situations he asks during lecture. His expertise and breadth of knowledge is quite humbling - many are intimidated, but stick with it & his method of teaching will make you quicker & smarter.

I really don't understand all the great reviews for this professor. While he is extremely intelligent, he is condescending and arrogant. He encourages students to ask questions but then answers a question with a question. Draws pictures on the board instead of using PowerPoint for lectures. Tests are EXTREMELY tricky.

Professor Caiozzo was an excellent lecturer. However, his tests are very challenging. Prepare in advance, study often, make a solid study, and ask questions if you are unsure about something... These are the keys to success in his class. Do not fall behind. Labs can be challenging to understand but can provide classification on lecture material.

pt 5 - last part i swear. THIS IS THE REALEST REVIEW I'VE GIVEN ANY PROF. The test format is similar to the 1st & 2nd one. HE'S A DOCTOR MAN. ONCE IN A LIFETIME CHANCE TO BE TAUGHT BY ONE. I studied w/o a group and still did well :). How you study matters. Other than that, I am glad to have been one of his students.

pt 4. - His tests test your knowledge, so IF YOU KNOW YOUR MATERIAL A+. The subject itself is hard & I love physio bc of Vince & if you don't like him, well guess he didn't fit your learning style, simple. I do recommend him if you are willing to push yourself. 4 tests no final, drawings, multiple choice (choose all that apply), short ans, & e.c.

Pt 3 - he pushes you. He makes you think. If he gave you all the answers, like you won't get anywhere in life. I felt stupid at times, but the answers were all there in his lectures. I barely used the book, don't worry about lab notebook, and be prepared to STUDY. I changed my study habits just for this class (I still cram 2-3 days before the test)

Pt. 2: lots of drawing I tell you. I became an artist in his class. My first test was a high C, second was low D, third was high A. I literally thought of dropping after the 2nd test. However, I pushed through. Online labs every now, rarely any hw, everything he draws is your test. RECORD HIS LECTURES AND LISTEN TO IT WORD FOR WORD.

PART 1: At first, I was worried. Heard a lot of great things about him and took him. He gives you a hw assignment first day of class and literally people drop bc they think the whole class is based on it. NOPE NOPE. It is just to test your knowledge. THE CLASS GETS BETTER. I'm your average crammer and like I DO NOT REGRET taking this class.

Not sure why everyone here thinks he's a good professor. He's very sarcastic and arrogant, I don't mind the heavy lecture or work because I am used to it. What I dislike was his inability to be organized, lab material was always posted 10-20 minutes before class, he wasted time on subjects outside physiology, doesn't help makes you feel stupid

Truly the best professor I've had in college. He knows physio on the top of his head and teaches in a way that you will really understand. No PPTs, just figures on the board so you MUST copy everything AND record all lectures. All test q's come from lecture and he tells you exactly what you need to know. Super funny and passionate about teaching!

Comment:

Best professor I've had at IVC. He also teaches at UCI. He draws diagrams on the board while lecturing. Take good notes, record the lectures, and answer the learning objectives (study guide) to be successful. Join a study group because it is a lot of material and helps to review. He wants to help you. Not an easy class, but a great professor!

Professor Caiozzo makes learning physiology bearable. All lectures and material are written up on the board, everything he puts up is fair game. He gives you great supplemental documents and also provides a course outline with objectives (study guide). Caiozzo is also a UCI Bio and Med School Professor. He's the real deal.

Professor Caiozzo is by far the best professor I have ever had. He is willing to help you as long as you are willing to work hard and learn. If you want to understand physiology take the class with Caiozzo.
