Cool guy, bad teacher. Lectures were pointless since everything on the exams was based on the book. There are pop-quizzes that will only help your exam score at the end if you score high enough, so make sure to always be on top of reading it. Make sure to do the study guides and take advantage of the extra credit opportunities.

Comment:

He's awesome!!! I took his ADMJ 320 class and his lectures are hilarious! He gives study guides for each test after every two chapters. Overall an easy class! You do need the textbook because every week he assigns a case to do (super easy)! Never dreaded going to his class!

Mr. Thorpe is such a great instructor. In order to pass the exams be sure to complete the study guides that he gives out. Also, you must make sure you read the book because he gives out pop quizzes (the points can help you out on your exam) and it helps you complete the study guide. Great guy and fun class!

I felt like I was back in time; Wade had been on the force years ago. He had alot of personal experience. I didn't always agree with his views. He was sometimes, mean, and his tests were difficult. I took this class without taking Intro to ADJM 300, so others were slightly ahead of me on information. It was a challenging class worth repeating.

He is a difficult professor. He doesn't offer extra credit other than what he gives, which is not often. Most of the time he SAYS he will give extra credit, but he doesn't. He doesn't have a set schedule. His exams are hard and I would not recommend taking his class AT ALL. I passed the class, but if you want a challenge and fail then go for it.

His class is pretty simple, but unfortunately his exams are 100 questions with the study guide being completely irrelevant. Even though, the class is three hours long, he makes the lectures very interesting. Over all I wouldn't recommend taking his class for three hours on one day, because he makes it complicated and difficult.

I took Thorpe during the Summer and I swear the classes went by ridiculously fast and painless....despite being 3 hours long and in the morning. He tries to make the subject interesting by adding jokes here and there. Alot of students take his other classes and come back because he's easy and likable. It's a shame he's retiring this year.

Thorpe is pretty strict on attendance, some of his lecture isn't even on the test, but the study guide is almost identical to what you need to know on the test. He lets you use a 3x5 card and he is funny to listen to. All in all, he is a pretty fair guy.

I have taken Thorpe for 4 different classes. I think he is awesome. He has a great sense of humor. He gives you the answers to all of his tests in the form of a study guide. You dont really need to read the book...only find the answers to the study guide questions. I heard he was going to retire...take him before he does.

So the first week consisted of him asking everyone's purpose for the class and basically bashed those that want to be lawyers, minor in psych, or get a Bachelor's in CJ. Maybe his intentions were good, but it's unnecessary.He is a humorous guy, but you HAVE to study (the review sheets are confusing) and can't miss more than 3 classes.

This was my first class completed at sac city and it had been quite some time since I had gone to school. Thorpe was a great teacher to have when just starting out. He's the type of teacher that makes you want to come to class. He's fun and know his stuff. Pay attention in class and study and you should be fine.

Mr. thorpe was one of the best teachers i had, he is always making the students laugh, and the best thing is that he doesn't force you to speak in front of the class, he is very informative and it's an easy class all you have to do is the study guides and the cards to use when you take the test. Everyone should take him at least once.
