Comment:
There is very little homework in this course, and to get notes you have to take them directly from his mouth. Like if you try to rely on posted powerpoints and study guides and the book then be prepared to read every chapter assigned and teach yourself because there are no words on the powerpoints only diagrams and some vaugely described vocab.

Dr. Grant is great! He isn't the most exciting professor, but is very funny in lecture. Is very fair, gives study guides for his tests that are similar to the tests, and seems very engaged and interested to learn about his students. Would definitely recommend again.

Comment:
Dr. Grant makes the class extremely boring, I used to like Biology and Ecology and I was good at it, but he is just boring, difficult to understand, engage and follow. I will not recommend him if you're not super extra smart and will like to have a good grade.

Comment:
The thing about Dr. Grant is he gives you a study guide for each test, but half the time the tests aren't what you expect at all, so it is pointless. His lectures are incredibly boring and he gets off topic way too easily. He seems like a nice man but is an absolutely horrendous professor. I would recommend avoiding his class at all costs!

Comment:
Dr. Grant is a great man with a good heart, but an extremely dry and boring professor. Myself and other students find it quite difficult to pay attention to lectures, and often find ourselves doing anyall other homework for other classes in this class. He does send out study guides for tests, but good luck because these aren't always 100% useful.

This class wasn't very difficult as long as you review his ppts online and read the text book before exams. You don't really have to pay attention to do well and there aren't many assignments.

Comment:
For basic Biology 181, the course was way too rigorous. Do not take this teacher unless you enjoy studying everything he mentions in class daily, because he only skims the surface. The tests are long, in depth, and many questions come from a two sentence quote under Figure 15.5. The gist is: his tests can cover anything from page 1 - 1255.

His teaching style is not going to work for everyone. However, for me it has worked well. I've taken 2 classes with him and done relatively well in both. The study guides he gives are great study tools for the test and he tells jokes to lighten up really dry concepts.

He is a nice guy but a horrible professor. His lecture consists of him reading information from his power points (all of which are online) and long tangents that have nothing to do with the subject material. The only reason I passed his class is because the lab boosted my grade and I read the text book. If you don't read the text you will not pass.

He is a pretty good teacher. If students: attend class, read the book, and study a little for the tests they will be fine. He teaches off a powerpoint, so if you have trouble focusing, this class isn't for you. He tells jokes and has a soothing voice.

Professor Grant is a really nice guy. He cracks random jokes that always brightened my day. That being said, I only found this class easy because I am a biology major and took AP bio and AP environmental in high school..which is what the first 2 tests were basically about. He doesn't teach it. Lectures all online, classes are pretty pointless.

Professor Grant is a really nice man who is extremely passionate about what he teaches. However, his teaching style is boring and un-engaging. He just reads information off of power points (which he puts on his website) so there is really no point in going to class other than to complete the occasional "clicker questions" that he gives for a grade.

Should not be a professor. Does not teach and you will NOT learn in this class. Avoid at all costs. Decided to assign us 20 new chapters to learn the last two weeks of class that will be on the final. All his powerpoints have at least 100 slides

This was not the easiest class, and his lectures are pretty boring. Mainly because he reads off slides. However he is very nice, really likes what he does and will help you. If you are the type of person that is good with learning out of textbooks this is the class for you.

Even though the class is boring, the tests come mostly from the study guide he sends out in emails. If you study that, you'll be fine.

Seems to be a nice guy, but shouldn't be a teacher. He doesn't actually teach, he just reads off slides that he took straight from the textbook. He's very boring so it makes going to class a pain.

Nice guy, but a very poor teacher. He teaches you one thing and then gives you a test that asks you very hard questions on stuff he barely went over. powerpoints dont help at all.

If you have the chance to not take his class, for your own sake please don't! He is a nice man and all but he is the wost professor I have ever encountered. He teaches straight out of the book which does not work for most students and just reads off power points. He gives you reviews for tests that serve no purpose because they do not usually help.
