I 3 Bill Mayhan. He is so smart, so funny, and he is certainly an expert in his field. He has so much energy that he is sometimes literally stumbling over chairs when he's lecturing! Makes lots of jokes and presents info in a relatable way. Definitely take a class with him if you can. Lots of reading, but it's a 4000 level English class, so duh.

Bill is a super nice guy. He's knowledgeable and passionate about English literature, encourages class discussion, and is open to other interpretations of the material. He's always willing to help with essays, and he's funny, too. I'd take his class again anytime.

I took Practical Criticism and English Lit II with him, and he is such an amazing professor. He knows his stuff, he makes you enjoy being in class, and he really has a passion for what he teaches. My writing dramatically improved by taking Practical Criticism.

I had Mayhan for Eng 2320 and loved his class so much I took ENG 2310 even tho I'm not an English major. He's a sweet guy whose enthusiasm for the material is infectious! My favorite professor at UMSL!

Professor Mayhan is an outstanding teacher. The class is reading and lecture based, two papers and two exams. If you're in class everyday, you'll be fine. Miss at your own peril. Also, there are 4-5 questions quizzes on the reading every day.

THIS MAN IS A GOD. Seriously though, my all time favorite prof. He's knowledgable and enthusiastic about his subject area. He makes you work, but he's a great teacher and you'll find yourself improve over the semester as long as you pay attention in his class and do your work. He is a GREAT professor, I got to admit! And yes indeed, he gives quizzes almost every week. I honestly did NOT know that the class was mostly consisted of poems. It is very hard to understand at least for me. It seems like the guys enjoy this class more than the girls! Exams are on blue book. No multiple choice! Boooo on that part.

Repeat of everything already said. The man makes you want to get up in the morning and go to class. He truly is one of the best teachers ever. Mayhan is the greatest teacher- ever. I leave his lectures feeling good and intellectually satisfied. I am genuinely happy in his class. He brings in music and art to demonstrate ideas. The most entertaining and enlightening class I have had in college. He teaches you not only to write papers for him, but for all your classes. I use the same techniques he teaches in my other English classes and my grades have gone from B's to A's. If do what he suggests, you will do fine.
