When I took this guy he assumed everyone had already taken Calculus. If you are trying to learn the subject and have never taken calculus before you should not take him because he will not teach you anything. If you have already had Calculus and understand it well don't even bother going to class and have a great time.

At the end of the semester he told us that if we got an A- after the final, he'd bump it to an A, B- to a B+, etc. He basically wants you to do well. His accent was hard to understand sometimes but he's more than willing to help if you ask. I didn't even buy the book. My friend who never took calc got an A in his class just by studying his notes.

He's an unbelievably nice buy who really cares about his students. Contact him outside class if you need help and he'll be glad to help you. Sometimes his lectures are difficult to understand so reading the book and doing the problems are pretty necessary if you want a decent grade. Wish I could take him again.

Shylnov is a horrible lecturer! He has a lot of problems getting concepts across to students, so instead of actually teaching he just goes immediately to example problems and expects you to keep up. If you learn the material somewhere else (I used youtube) his exams are an easy A though. Just save your time and don't go to his lectures!

He is very knowledgeable, but he doesn't know how to teach. He assumed everyone had prior knowledge of the material-that everyone took BC Calculus in high school. He makes you feel really stupid if you ask a question. If you have taken calculus before, then you will be fine. If you haven't, then don't take him b/c you won't understand much.

Everyone hates on Shylnov bc he doesn't take crap from anyone. Calc II is the hardest calculus, so of course the class will be difficult. The quizzes are EASY (they're either hw or lecture probs). The exams are real tricky bc he wants to test application rather than plug-n-chug; he does allow a cheat-sheet. I enjoyed his class, so take him.

He is very hard to understand, almost a necessity to preread the chapter before learning it in class. Cannot answer questions asked at all, and intimidates you beyond beleif to even ask a question. Overal makes you feel dumb and incompotent when asking questions.

He was not a terrible guy, but he is really hard to understand sometimes and he skips a lot of steps. He also spends a lot of time going through proofs and theorems because he wants you to understand the concepts behing what you are learning, but it normally was just more confusing.

Yurii is a man about respect, however his class is extremely unclear and useless. Since he reads the book to the class proving theorems, and the book is essentially useless, the class is essentially useless. It is pointless to go and you will only get confused. Get help from outside sources...Avoid him if you can but his grading is easy.

I took this class over the summer so calc was my world for 6 weeks, get to the tutoring center if ou want to pass. Hard class but fair, i agree he goes off-topic I appreciated the historical aspect of mathematics and the need for proofs after this class however some of the physics examples were over my head

Yurii gets a bad rap from previous generations for being a jerk and hard grader, but even if that's true, he has definitely turned around by now. Always amusing in class, generally clear, and a very lenient grader if he knows you are putting in the work. I can't wait to have him again next sem for linear!

The class is a joke if you've taken calc before, could be difficult if not. He explains technically how things work, then gives you what you need to know on quizzes/tests. Quizzes are like problems in class, tests are like quizzes. No homework. Easy A if you use what you know from class. "Cheat sheets" alllowed on tests.

Surprised at the comments below! This man sucks! I have never got less than an A in math before but between our horrible teacher and the horrible text book I have no hope and I know a lot of our class feels the same! RUN JUST RUN..REALLY REALLY FAST AND FAR AWAY!

I got an A in this class. I thought he was a pretty easy professor but also taught the material well. There is no real need to use the textbook - all homework is optional/not graded. The weekly quizzes and tests are just like what is gone over in class. Attend regularly and you should do well.

This guy was a great Calc 131 teacher. I have never taken calc before and I feel like I understand it very well. He is a little odd but will always answer questions, very funny, quizzes are exactly what we did in class, note-sheet on tests, I think he's more than any college kid could ever ask for in terms of easyness.

The worst physics prof ever.....useless, sometimes wonder if he actually went to college and got a degree that indluded physics. He is however the most hilarious person ever and an exact replication of borat..so def take him just to experience that....but dont take him you dont have to.... he doesn't teach what so ever....and doesn't offer to help
