I took Dr. Pilant in my graduate program, and his class was amazing. He has 2 rules, 1. Don't stress, turn things in when you can 2. Family and sanity first. His lectures (and lecture notes) were engaging, he is extremely intelligent and share loads of knowledge with you, and he is really easy to talk with. BEST PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD!

For the online class, he practices a method called backwards teaching. He gives you lecture notes that give you content knowledge alongside the book. The chat sessions are where you discuss what you have read and learn in practical ways. I really enjoy this method because is assesses your understanding in a great way that promotes instant feedback.

You are going to get an A as long as you do your papers. He doesnt even read them. Always submit them to his email before hand and he will act like he has read and approved. Save the time and effort and just start rambling. He is a right winger so that is how you can get on his good side. Told me he doesn't give 100s on student's papers...

Dr. Pilant is one of the best professors on campus. His material is easy to understand and he's not your average lecturer. Very enthusiastic and passionate about what he teaches, and his tests are very easy and can serve as an effective study guide for the final.

I love this man like the day is long. One of the few 8 o'clock classes I don't want to fall asleep in. Also the sweetest man in the world. He came to my baptism! He cares a lot about his subject and his students. Take this crazy man if you get the chance.

he’s a radical to radicals. He doesn’t fit in any categories, he is very observant in his views. He is a social historian (not a socialist historian) and one of the best professors I’ve ever had. He loves what he does and does it well, but his upper and special topics classes are very challenging for those in the major.

History by the use of humor. Dr. Piliant yells and cusses just at the right moments so that everyone laughs and only learns the bare minimum. If you want to laugh at history and learn and take easy finals that are done at home. Take Dr Piliant.
