Agree with the comment below. Did not teach a single thing throughout the semester. Expects students to teach themselves. Does not give any feedback. Will give you a grade and not back up his marking. Just writes good work! instead. Entire class struggled to get through the course. Really horrible english makes it frustrating to learn.

Dr. Alfred Chan is the best professor I had in my undergraduate. He is extremely knowledgeable not to mention very funny and caring. You will do well if you show up and speak every once in a while. Great guy and encouraged me to work hard to pursue school again after graduation.

He is caring, and very accommodating to his students. If you miss an assignment or seminar he will give you another chance to do better. He also has a humorous side overall a very knowledgeable professor in his field.

Butchered POL245E. Half the time don't even know what he's talking about... gets so off-topic with impersonations. Found it very hard to pay attention to him. Avoid taking Comparative 245E with him if at all possible. Maybe he's better in Chinese politics, but I found this class brutal!

This course could have been worse, however too much of it is topical and reminiscent of high school (which is partly the student's fault and partly the prof's). His marking can be fair but puts an inordinate amount of attention to just "showing up". If you're looking for stimulation and deep analysis, try another section.

A generally nice and well meaning guy. However he can be hard to understand at times, which is frustrating. He also has TA's mark his essays, unusual for Huron College, so expect 10% lower marks than you would otherwise get. Avoid his classes if you can.

Dr. Chan is easily among the 5 best profs/teachers I've had in my life. Though his format is somewhat predictable, he is interesting & quite fair. The more you put into his classes, the more you will get out of them. (you can't say this with most profs.) If you participate regularly, you'll do well.
