I also disagree with most of these previous comments. Alicia was a wonderful professor, full of energy and extremely knowledgeable in Spanish grammar. My Spanish got a hundred times better in her class, thanks to her useful learning techniques and interactive class atmosphere.

I think it's a shame that all these comments are so negative - they are also mostly old, so I'm thinking she's gotten a lot better. Tests are hard, but fair. She tests on everything in class. She's really nice though and it's a good environment. I like her.

Comment:
Definately not a bad professor. On the contrary she is quite good. Her teaching is slightly disorganized but in a charming way. Overall, her classes offer good Spanish practice and fun(ny) activities. Grading is more than reasonable. As long as you are enthusiastic about Spanish and do the work, you are in for a treat.

this professor is extremely unhelpful. she seems not to care about the learning at all. i feel like all she cares about is technicalities and is not willing to help out students. she seems nice at first, but is actually a very bad teacher. I WARN YOU not to take her classes. Go abroad instead! You will learn more.

I couldn't echo everyone else's sentiments more strongly: she completely turns you off to studying Spanish ever again. Only one person in my class didn't take it CR/NE because she was giving everyone C's. Palpable distain for students, unapproachable beyond belief. Terible.

i actually like this class, and i think she is really nice. I think maybe she has made some changes since last semester, but don't not take this class just because of what you have heard. Be prepared to work, but know that you will learn something (if not from the actual classroom, at least from all the stuff you'll be writing)

absolutely avoid this class and this teacher. while i liked her at first, i am now dumbfounded by her lack of helpfulness, lack of clarity, lack of sympathy, unreasonable grading, and disorganization. because of this class i basically no longer have any interest in the spanish language. avoid!

Ay caramba! I'm so glad I CR/NE this course because I'm sure I made a C- although I did all the work (although I stopped studying for exams once I decided not to take the course for a standard letter grade). She's insane as far as work and grades go but a nice lady with an endearing accent.

I was really interested in spanish to the point that i had lived in spain for two summers. After her class, i pretty much never wanted anything to do with it again. She is possibly the worst teacher i have ever had at any point in my life.

Do not take this woman. She teaches the way she thinks students SHOULD learn, not actually how they DO learn. Highest grade in the class on first test: in the 70s. Lowest: in the 40s. The next test, about the same. I'm surprised they haven't fired her

She's not that bad. Class is hard and somewhat confusing, but not impossible. She's happy to help, though not necessarily very helpful. I found her very nice.

bailed during add-drop before i could see how much worse the class could get. loads of hard work that goes poorly or un-explained, and isn't much better in person than in class. knows spanish, but teaches it quite badly.

Oh God. I really want to be nice, but she's the reason I gave up on Spanish. You'll do better taking a placement exam to avoid her. Either way you might get her since she teaches Spanish 203 *and* 304.

This is the worst teacher I have ever had. Alicia supresses creativity and dissuaded me from being a Spanish major. She has unreasonable expectations, doesn't know how to teach, and doesn't clarify what students are expected to do.
