LOVED the content of this class, LOVED prof gaskill's perspective, but be prepared bc the tests are based on the tiniest passing comments he makes in class. nice guy, he just talks SO fast and his tests are on the tiniest details so it's hard to remember. DO NOT take hand written notes, you won't be able to keep up. fascinating discussions though.

The course content was enlightening and intellectually stimulating. Somewhat work heavy for a 2-credit class. Homework reading, assignments, pop quizzes, and short film reports. None of the aforementioned was very difficult. Tests however were fairly difficult and based on minute details from his comments during the lectures. W/o good notes tough.

Alonzo is incredible and this was one of the best classes I've ever taken, but the tests are ridiculous. I'm usually a pretty good test taker but I've gotten my lowest test scores ever in this class. It's still worth taking the class but be sure you study every single little detail he mentions in lecture (which is a lot haha)!!

I know other students found him funny, but I found him disrespectful and pretty melodramatic and loud. He frequently talks over students and refused to slow down when asked multiple times. He also provided a study outline, but the tests were very different and way more detailed. I loved the material but it was way too hard for a 2 credit class.

Dr Gaskill is such a funny guy. Youll learn a lot in his class and will be laughing the whole time. When I first saw him I was a little freaked out by his loudness and boisterous mannerisms, but I adjusted quickly. Heavy workload for a religion class: You have pop quizzes, papers, online assessments, tests, and film reports.

Really cool professor, has a genuine love for the material and for the students. Very knowledgeable. Does speak really fast in class and a lot of what he says is on the test, I'd recommend recording lectures on your phone and listening to them again afterwards. Test felt really tough in the moment but afterwards I didn't do too bad.

As a senior, this was my favorite religion class at BYU. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking it from him. We learned about world religions throughout the world, and how they relate to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I loved the course and listening to his perspectives. I was put off, however, by how unclear/inconsistent he was about what we needed to know for exams. He also was mostly unwilling to slow down his speech so the class could keep up. This wouldve been fine if he didnt test entirely on what he said in lecture. He needs to be held more accountable.

Professor Gaskill is a great teacher. He is clearly very passionate about religion and knows his stuff. I definitely recommend world religions if you are interested in learning more about different beliefs. I was a little disappointed that there weren't more guest speakers, but his lectures are great nonetheless. The homework and tests are easy :)

Brother Gaskill will make you laugh so hard you'll pass out in your chair! Probably THE most entertaining lecturer I have ever experienced. The man's resting voice is like 1000 words/min, he is lightening fast and extremely knowledgeable. I loved learning about other religions and it made we want to know way more than we got to in the class.

WOW. Mind exploding. Heart expanding. Spiritual but liberal. Wonderful. He will push your conservative limits if you are conservative. I'm not. So I couldn't wait to go to class and feel uplifted by his enthusiasm about Jesus, Allah, Buddha, and good ole' Zarathustra. Also he was at Stanford and is a Stake Pres. No biggie.

Prof Gaskill is amazing. He's hilarious, teaches great content, and makes the tests and assignments not too difficult. The only thing is that the lectures are not very engaging, but they're interesting. He requires a few small papers, and two tests, so not bad. He is one of the best teachers that I've taken.

If you're going to take world religions you HAVE to take it from him. Hands down best professor and class I've had at BYU. It's so much more than just learning facts about other religions and it should be required for everyone. Alonzo is hilarious and really helps you to find a love for other religions.

Dr. Gaskill is THE BEST professor. He is my favorite professor at BYU hands down! His lectures are so interesting and entertaining. I actually enjoyed going to his class. There is one big term paper, but it wasn't difficult. There are daily readings, but they are really short. Overall a great experience. Take this class from him!!

I loved Brother Gaskill and this class! He is an incredibly engaging lecturer, and he really helps you gain an appreciation for world religions. I had high expectations for this class, and it definitely exceeded my hopes! You get to attend another denomination for a project, which is really cool. Tests and papers are not too hard, just take notes.
