Honestly, this was by far my worst experience with a professor. He is extremely difficult to understand and when you can understand him, he makes no sense. You will fail the midterm and you will fail the final. the only thing I took out of the class was "the computer is a stupid"

Labs were absolutely impossible. He was not very helpful at all. He is very hard to understand with his accent. Expects you to know how to code even though it is a class that is supposed to teach you the basics.

Literally don't take this class. If you have no interest in computer programing drop this class. Or go to the "Consultants' hours" for help.. The class is too hard for anyone who doesn't have past experience with programing, and he has a very strong Russian accent so that doesn't help either.

Comment:

Nice guy, but this class needs a major overhaul. The loud voice/accent was not an issue for me. I just felt he brushed over a few concepts and then suddenly, we were expected to be programmers. This is supposed to be an intro class, but it's not for beginners. Failure/dropout rate is very high, and the only ones that succeeded had prior experience.

He basically taught from the powerpoints. Good thing is that he posts them on the syllabus online if you need to refer to them. He does help during his office hours. Also, copy every example he writes on the board!!

He has a 1.8 rating for a reason. Don't take him. He yells the whole class, doesn't explain anything, exams are impossible. I passed but only because the assistants helped with the projects. Do not take him!

Worst teacher at msu for computer science.. His slides are horrible don't listen to them and just read the book.. His instructions are backwards so look for help from Someone who ha the class.. He yells with a bunch of retorical questions.. He will make you hate computer science

Such a bad professor. Avoid at all costs. You can't understand his accent and the class is sh*t. For $100, the University will let you test out of it. You never use the book, so don't waste your time.

He can't really teach, even though he likes teaching. He lectures for the whole period but at the end of the class, you get this feeling that you didn't learn. You get the same feeling at the end of the semester. He has the midterm a week before the withdrawal period. The midterm results are funny, most students usually fail. Avoid him!
