Comment:

Dr. Prorok was so sweet and made the material really accessible. He cancelled class a couple times on nice days, and would often let us out early. If he noticed not many people were in class, he would give us test questions/definitions to help us study. His exams were challenging, but nothing we hadn't seen before in class/on the homework.

Comment:

Probably the best to take this with. If you want to do something in materials engineering you may need to do a little more on your own. He is so paranoid about people cheating that he overlooks the actual material and his tests become ridiculously easy. Nice guy though. Wasn't hard enough for me to learn though. Class took a back-burner to others.

I was in that same class as the guy who posted on 05/2011. His wife had premature triplet babies (3.5 months early). He needed to be at the hospital a lot, which was 3 hours away. He was there most of the time and only sent a TA when one was having problems. Maybe the guy below came to class more often he would've realized that. Shame on you!

I'm not sure what problem the guy on 05/2011 had, but this guy bends over backwards to help you. I enjoyed the class so much I often couldn't believe I was in an engineering course. I recommend this guy to everyone. You rock Dr. Prorok!

This guy is awesome. Very flexible on grades and wants you to do well. Way easier test than other materials classes. Def the one to choose if possible.

When he decided to show up to class his lectures were somewhat interesting, but about half of the time he would either not show up at all or send a GTA to class. He is IMPOSSIBLE to get in touch with outside of class, it took nearly 15 office visits and contacting the department head just to have a conversation with him.

Best professor ever! He teaches well and the class is fun. I feel like I'm learning and still enjoying class. Yes I said enjoying! Do I have a fever? No, Prorok is that good. Take him if you have a chose! Great!

Awesome professor. I just wish every professor was as easy going as he is. He knows his class is boring but he tries his best to stir up interest. I would definetly recommend him

Class is completely straight-forward. Go to class, complete the few homework assignments and you will be more than prepared for the tests, especially since past tests are provided as study aids. His quote: "My goal is to teach you, not to torture you."

Explains material well, although his handwriting is terrible. The tests are fair and he performs in-class experiments to demonstrate the concepts. I would recomend him even if he wasn't the only person who teaches the course.

Good teacher. He gives past tests to study from. Tests are hard, but nothing to bad. He is very helpful if you go see him. He didn't curve for my class, but we didn't need it. I learned a lot from Prorok
