Great Teacher that cares about content and students. Offers readings that are impactful and gives students the opportunity to speak and share their opinions. Class offered gave me an overall realization of the world we are living in today and how the past has impacted us so much! Make sure to do your readings and participate and you will do great!

Don't listen to any of these comments about him not accepting any other points of view- he listens so respectfully even when students are pure BSing. He actually gives feedback on papers, and is always available for help. The workload is very fair, leaning easy.

Dr. Benjamin is hands down my favorite professor of all time. The class itself is a bit challenging which is to be expected from an upper level course in the major but the information was so eye-opening. He's always available to talk and he teaches with so much passion, you can't help but pay attention. Truly an amazing professor :)

I originally enrolled in this class my sophomore year but dropped it as the course material was too overwhelming at the time. However, as a senior with a bunch better knowledge base, he has become one of my favorite professors ever. Very profound man but exposes you to truly valuable knowledge in an organized, unbiased way. Love him for TEACHING me

He is an average profesor, he is very helpful and always open to any questions that you have for him. For this particular class however her gives an extremely lager load of reading to do. The class consisted of reading papers and then just talking about them in class.I do not recommend this class for any1 who is NOT a global major & hates reading!

I seriously love this professor. Even though this class has a good chunk of reading it never seems like too much work. He's incredibly nice and open to listen to everyone's viewpoints. One of my favorite professors

He appears really bright at first glance, but with a bit of prodding,it's clear that he's not AT ALL.He has a minimal range of understanding beyond his own limited scope. If one presents ideas or concepts that differ from his,he pales. He simply cannot go beyond his own narrow focus.Scary that someone like him could be a tenured university professor-F

He was awful. He pretends to be helpful, but he does favor some over others. If a student is interested in his theoretical viewpoints, he/she receives an A, if not, you're out of luck. He is very fake and acts as though he wants to help, but it boils down to whether or not one does it "his" way. Avoid.

Approachable and friendly, but class was not so great. Was it about developing skills in individual research? Was it an overview of cultural studies? Was it an in depth study of colonial literature? Or was it just a forum for whatever **** people felt like talking about? It was supposed to somehow be all of those things. It was kind of a mess.

He was awful. I would never recommend him for any type of course. He acts nice, but he has a huge ego. If you can avoid taking a class with him, you are lucky.

if you don't agree with his way of thinking, he penalizes you, regardless of how much you may know. he has his little "pets" who do well, but others who may not agree with his type of theory or who may have experience in other areas of theory are not appreciated. he was kind of fake about the help he offered 'cause i knew he wasn't really interest

Dr. Benjamin was always made himself available to assist students that asked for help. He is insanely interested and passionate about what he teaches. He expects his students to do their work and go a little above and beyond to receive a grade better than a B/B-. I'd take another class with him if I had the opportunity as I learned so much. He treated me like a peer and not some dumb kid. I just had a solid bond with him that I've never had with any other prof. @UAlbany.

While not the best teacher, he is a genuinely nice guy. He is very interested in what he teaches, although at the time I took this class I had just taken an Irish History class and knew when he was incorrect. All in all, it was a good class, but he did have a little bit of trouble with a few of the older students (older than him) who seemed to want to monopolize the whole class- he seemed intimidated, and had a hard time getting them back on track. We read a lot of highly interesting material though.

This class was very interesting. I hadn't really studied much Irish history, so I didn't catch some of the metaphors right away. The poetry was very difficult, but then again it's poetry. You might want to get some help from the writing center on papers, because they're a little tough and he expects a lot.

I loved Professor Benjamin and the Irish lit course. He was a tough grader and the class was challenging but I learned a lot and he kept it interesting. I liked that he used a variety of media in addition to books to teach the course.

I think that Professor Benjamin is a nice enough person, but he seems to favor students who agree with him. He talks about a lot of stuff that doesn't really mean anything.
