He is very sweet and is open to having big discussions in class. Although I had him for a short period in the semester, he was kind to our class and he's very passionate about what he teaches.

I took his online theology class, it's the easiest class i've taken so far at SJU. Though it was easy, everyone actually learned. 2-3 discussion posts a week, 2 responses, all about a paragraph (more or less). Final summary essay (2 pages). He cares about everyone and want's students to actually learn something.

I've taken 3 of his courses & Dr. M is the greatest prof. in the world! He genuinely cares about students & will do anything to help you succeed. Weekly readings are interesting & challenge you to think, as does Dr. M, but it's nothing impossible- he's trying to shape you into a scholar. Lectures are socratic discussions & very engaging.

There is readings every week in which you'll submit questions. The readings are heavy but if you skim them you'll be fine. He just wants to know you're engaged in the reading. He is a very understand man and extremely smart. His lectures can be a bit boring and he keeps you the entire class but I did learn a lot.

He also gives us a lot of chance to participant in extracurricular activities, and sometimes invited other speakers to give us lectures on interesting topics, which was really important for our major. HORRIBLE! He repeats the same lessons in the core classes he teaches (which is most). Once, he printed out the 1st pdf link he found on google on how to write a critique paper and handed it out to students instead, of bringing an example of a real case study so we could actually work on it. And the students there: all looking for an easy A.

His work seems like alot but its really easy.You do have to buy 3 books but there not that expensive and you do use them. Make sure to hand in all the hw even if it is a week late. Make sure he notices you i sit in the front and he remembers my name even though i never participate. He wants you to make yourself known which adds to a good grade!!

...I'm in class typing this as we speak. Professor Monteiro is a sweet guy...really he is. BUT...HE IS THE MOST BORING MAN ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH. Everytime he starts speaking, I immediately want to rip my eyes out. And I actually like the subject material. Work load is ridiculous, if you have no other classes, take him.

One of the best professor at SJU, and also a very good mentor. You will learn alot from this guy. Shows a tremendous amount of respect towards his students and is extremely helpful. I just wish that all of my other professors are like him. Highly Recommended, for those who really want to learn. Trust me, you will not regret taking him

I like every class I take with him. Nice guy, always willing to help. A few papers, not too intense, but some effort required. One presentation about either a random country/one of your choice, not bad. Wants students to do well, at least the ones who show up on time consistently. If you do that, he'll be very happy to help. International Communications 1 & 2. An amazing professor. Dedicated to his work, and his students. A caring mentor I hope to know all my life.
