If you go to class every day and take notes you should be fine. I studied only from my notes and from going to class and received an A. Great professor but make sure you go to class and pay attention!

Multiple choice tests, but the real confusing kind. Ex. Johnny said 1,2,3. What did Johnny say? A)1 B)2 C)1,2 D)2,3 E)1,3 But there is real easy True/False questions. He teaches the material well. You don't need the book, just good notes. For the lab, be ready to stare at rocks in great detail, it is no fun. Silly amounts of new vocabulary.

Welcome to college kids, complain all you want about cooper but he is just old school, yeah he may be hard but what did you think college was going to be easy? The tests are not hard they are just detailed and most of the time WORD FOR WORD off the NOTES! so READ and have a good college career

For nonmajors: physical geology is extremely hard, and the lab is worse. Consider geologic hazards or even historical geology to fufill your credits. For Majors: Min/Pet is absolutely killer. Take a light load when taking these classes, workload is heavy. Envir. doesnt seem hard, but the tests are tricky and nobody got an A at all

HE IS SOOOO BORING, his notes barely help && I promise you will be taking many notes. He does put a test in the library that will help alittle, but I rented the book && read it that confused me even more. When I tell you that you have to love science to take this class you must know your stuff!

Nice guy but makes you have to know way too many little details for a first level geology class. He writes all of the notes on the board which you just copy down all class every class. I had to buy a second notebook because we took SO many notes. The tests are hard & detailed and he likes to change one word to try to trick u. But no book needed!

He's a nice guy but the lectures are super boring and he just writes all the notes on the chalkboard and you just copy them down the whole class. The test was SO HARD and detailed; the study guide did not help one bit. Good luck... I hated his class.

I thought he was a sweet man! He sometimes tells corny jokes. His tests are hard but he gives you a study guide along with old tests reserved in the library for you to copy, so just study and pay attention in class. I didn't buy the book and I'm doing good. You can find pictures online if you're a visual person. He really enjoys what he does.

Very difficult labor-intensive course. You'll fight for the grade you get. He teaches lots of material, attendance and text reading are wise. Tests are very very hard, be prepared.

He is a great professor. DO NOT BUY THE BOOK, you won't need it. His tests come straight from the notes. Writes on the chalk board, does not use PowerPoint. Shows overheads and sometimes Google Earth. Will answer all your questions. Study the notes and you won't have a problem in the class. Grades on a curve.

Professors do not teach the lab sections. The TA IS the teacher for the labs. Dr. Cooper meets with the TA's every week and does lab prep. He is not supposed to be in the lab with the TA. I currently teach Physical Geology and Dr. Cooper definitely does his job.

He was my lab instructor, but I only saw him a few times. He made his TA do everything, and she was just a senior. We had a tough time. Then he shows up with a very difficult practical and expects us to know everything when we've never even seen the guy. Saw again twice before the final. Bad example of a professor if you ask me. Take someone else.

This man is extremely uninspiring and very inarticulate. We had no book or handouts for our class which forced us to write down every word he said. Material on the test covered items he didn't explain. His test was unfair, unreasonable, and excessive.

He's a really cool guy and cracks some corny jokes during class, but all in all really laid back. The tests are pretty difficuly unless you study really hard. Im pulling off a border line a/b in the class but its because i studied hard. THe lab is difficult in the begining with all the rocks
