The whole class revolves around tutoring. You meet at the elementary school, not SRU. The program has its flaws and can be frustrating with her lack of availability, but it is a great experience and authentic as you work exclusively with 1-2 children, creating lessons. Grading occurs all at the end which is hard: a unit plan, text set, and lessons.

Excellent, relatable, hands-on activities that apply directly to our learning objectives. Great use of technology to access resources and strategies to engage students. Timely feedback. Work is fairly evaluated. Multiple means of communication. A lot of work crammed into 4 weeks, but it IS a 4-week-class!! And it can be done! Excellent teacher!!

Dr. D is not only a great professor, but an amazing person. She made class fun and showed me how fun it can be to teach science. In addition to being a great teacher, she also helped me get through a tough time in my life that did not even relate to school. She is always willing to help her students. She truly cares about all of her students.

Dr. DeCarlo is an amazing professor! She's very helpful and I never minded going to her class. I had a great experience in field and overall would recommend her to anyone that actually wants to start to learn to teach! She makes science fun and is an intelligent and fun person! :) take her if you can!

Never had Dr. D for class..but she's my advisor & she's simply AMAZING. Most of the time I come into her office a stressed out mess & she talks to you & calms you down. She's such a great person. She's so smart & down to earth & gives great advice. It's all about just doing the best u can with her & life's too short to get all worked up :)TAKE HER!

She is an amazing professor! Always willing to help you with anything that you need, whether its in her class or not. She loves what she does and wants you to love it too. There is not a lot of work, just two lesson plans and 2 quizzes but you learn SO much...def. take her. Slippery Rock is lucky to have her!

Took her for methods of science and for creativity. WONDERFUL teacher. I wish she would have taught more classes. She only makes you do necessary work, not a bunch of crap work like other teachers. I've never had a teacher like her before. A+ Dr. DeCarlo!!!!

I really liked her at first, but then I found out that if she gets mad she talks about students behind their backs to other students. Somehow I don't think that is the best way to have students like you. But all in all you learn things in the class.
