Professor Strauss is amazing. She is very helpful and is always willing to go the extra step to help her students. She always shares interesting stories and interesting facts about Germany. The class is not hard if you do the reading, which is pretty interesting. I recommend taking one of her classes!

I do not recommend this professor. She plays favorites, her assignments/directions on tests are not clear and she does not emphasize the truly important aspects of learning German. I suggest if at all possible to take this course with Jon Sherman. Even if you must wait a semester.

She is a really nice professor that truly wants her students to succeed, and understands that her class isn't the only one you have. The daily homework is hard to keep doing because she doesn't check it every day, but if you keep on it you'll do okay. Overall a great professor!

Decent professor. Go to class and look over material like you should every other class and you'll do fine. However, almost impossible to follow along in class when she speaks in German for 10 minutes straight. Somewhat of a crazy personality as well. Overall decent class if you enjoy learning German.

Took all of the German classes. She is is her own little world. The class entailed doing homework out of a book and then just correcting it for all the class period and the cycle would go on and on. She is an OK professor. Take Herr Ahlers, he's the bomb.

She will do anything within her power to help her students learn, and always has her office door open to students who need assistance or just want to chat. If you show that you're a hardworker, she likes you. A lot of memorizing (like any lang. class) and pop quizzes (tho most are hinted about the day before hand). Excellent teacher, always willing to help. Tons of ways to rack up extra points and she's very enthusiastic about what she teaches.

Absolute heinous ****. She singles out students and ridicules them in front of class, as well as in public settings. Is not helpful, not nice at all, and not a good professor. If only german were taught by someone else at NMU.
