I not recommend taking this class if you are not a chem major. It made my first semester extremely hectic, and the 20+ hours that I spent on this class every week took time a lot of time away from my other work. The final exam is 6 hours long and was on a readying day. Also, Morse is a very disorganized lecturer, which doesn't help anything.

Professor Morse was like a sadistic mother to me. Although harsh, she really does care about her students well being and prepares you for following UNC chemistry classes.

I love Carolyn. Her smile brings light to my world and she is a very knowledgeable professor. Sure, she may have some difficulties communicating her ideas during lecture, but she will be elated to take the time and sit down with you to make sure you understand. As for the class, there's a good amount of prep work, but the exams are easy.

This class literally had more work than the rest of my classes put together, and I took multivariable calculus (MATH 233H) at the same time. If you take this class, be ready to pull some all-nighters and cry over how much work is assigned. Sure, you learn a lot, but it's not reasonable to try to do it with a 3 credit hour course.

This isn't a class for the faint of heart. There's a lot of work, and the tests are killer. Nevertheless, you delve much deeper into the gen chem material than you would in non-honors or back in AP. If you're genuinely interested in chemistry and did well on AP/IB, this class is worth your while. There's plenty of extra credit too.

TAKE NON-HONORS CHEM102. Please save yourself and stay away from this class unless you live and breathe chemistry. I thought I was good at chemistry until I got to this class. SO MUCH BUSY WORK. My grades in other classes suffered because of how much time I was investing in this class. The tests are impossible, and I have definitely cried bc of her

You do not need this class AT ALL if you got a 5 on the AP exam. Not only do you have to deal with her grouchy attitude, but you also have to put in so much time for this one class that it takes away from studying for your other classes. Yes, it's true that people do well in this class (B- to A range), but IT IS JUST NOT WORTH IT.

Professor Morse teaches in a way that isn't for everyone, but taking the class was definitely an experience. It's a lot of work so I personally would consider it a 6-8 credit class rather than 3. She does tend to go on tangents when answering questions but she knows (and sometimes it comes full circle back to the course material)

Professor Morse's 102H class is one of the hardest and most informative ones I've taken. She is very helpful in office hours. You will cover a lot of material every class, and it can be overwhelming if you don't read the textbook. READ the textbook and you'll be fine. Do practice problems and you'll be fine. The class is a time gobbler.

Pop quizzes are almost ALWAYS following practice problems and webassigns. Lectures can be confusing and sometimes contain errors, but are pretty insightful. If you have good time management and diligence, this class should be a doable A. Also it truly will help solidify your skills in chemistry and you will end up being more prepared for the future

Dr. Morse has been one of the best teachers I've ever had! I will say that sometimes the lectures are confusing, but if you go to office hours, she is more than happy to help you. She assigns a lot of work, but she does it in order to prepare you. This will probably be one of the hardest classes you'll take, but you get out what you put in.

Comment:
Dr. Morse is a smart person, but she doesn't do a good job at conveying the information. She also goes off on really dumb tangents when you ask questions that ultimately don't answer the original question. If you're solely taking this class as a refresher from AP Chem, DON'T. There is new and unnecessary info in this class that you don't need.

Dr. Morse was not one of my favorite professors. She gives a ton of kindergarten type work- like notebook checks. But the concepts and her tests are really hard. There's a lot of extra credit, which is nice, but ultimately it wasn't worth taking over 102

Professor Morse isn't at all unintelligent, she's just not the best at teaching what she knows. She expects you to be able to pick up material very quickly and wasn't great at working with me to help me understand the material when I went to her office hours. You will have to develop intense study habits and spend a lot of time working to get an A

Morse is the kind of professor that will haunt you for the rest of your life. She is condescending, rude, arrogant and unorganized. She expects you to devote all of your time to her course, but even then you will fail. She is not helpful at all and talking to her will actually discourage you more. SKIP this class and move on.

Morse is fantastic. She devotes all of her time to her 102H students, so she's always available for help. The class is curved substantially and fairly in your favor, so like 60% of the class gets As. Sure, 102H is harder than 102 and will require more time, but you learn a lot more and the grading is pretty easy. Definitely worth taking.

Avoid Professor Morse unless you have a passion for chemistry and are willing to devote all your time to her class. I thought this was going to be a review of AP Chemistry and boy was I wrong. She is not very helpful and goes on long, unrelated tangents. Also, cheeky in her emails. Lectures hard to follow. Avoid if possible.

Professor Morse is a great teacher and is always available to help students. The catch is that her course is fairly difficult, but if you apply yourself, you'll be able to do well. Also, she can take a while to respond to emails and you sometimes have to teach yourself material.

TAKE HER FOR 102!!She's ss annoying, but she's fair and her class is ridiculously easy. Her practice problems are exactly like her quizzes, and quizzes are exactly like her final! She curves everything a ridiculous amount and if you listen past her annoying voice, she actually tries to make things interesting. Also very very available for help!
