She's super lenient about grading papers. If you're looking for in-depth or critical discussions about books or social issues, this isn't the class for you. I felt like I was in a middle school english class sometimes - we didn't go much further than summarizing the books we read. She has some odd personality quirks, but overall an easy A.

She is a terrible professor, just in that the lectures do not bring more to the table than you could have easily gotten on your own; very base knowledge. she is extremely unorganized and speaks down on students. Class was interesting due solely to my fellow students. Otherwise, the class was snooze-worthy. Papers are elementary. Bad attitude.

She's actually a really awesome professor. Kind of scatterbrained at times, but has good intentions. Will call you out for not doing the reading. She is super straightforward about what she wants on her papers. Just be engaging with her and she will definitely show how much she cares. Pretty much an easy A, and the topics were all very interesting

I liked Tichi a lot.. She was always willing to help! She really cares about your abilities as a writer. I definitely improved! Not too much writing, a lot of reading. Take her for your writing class! The subjects were interesting!

Professor Tichi was amazing and this was my favorite class of the semester. She is super laid back and energetic. You can tell she really loves teaching & I think that makes all the difference. This class is heavily discussion based so come ready to talk. Don't skip class. Also papers can be unclear so make sure you ask for help and you'll do well

Prof Tichi is extremely knowledgable and personable. She takes the effort to get to know her student, and all the readings she selected were about real world issues. It takes a considerable amount of effort to get a good grade, but it's totally doable - in the end all the effort is so worth it!

Love Professor Tichi - she is an amazaing instructor. We read awesome 19th century novels and she really gets the wheels turning in your head. I more than enjoyed the class discussions. She requires weekly papers.

Professor Tichi is one of the best English professors I have had. She chose great books with a variety of themes and kept the discussions interesting. She does assign a lot of writing, but the assignments were honestly so fun I enjoyed writing them. Also, she is very understanding of students' schedules and was accommodating to the whole class.

I took a special topics course with her: Jack London and Edith Wharton. It has been an amazing course, and I have learned a lot about some of my favorite books. She is very approachable and is very friendly. I loved her application of the literature to real-life events. Her class has definitely been one of my favorites so far.

Pretty easy grader, plus you can revise a paper. Hates people who don't go to class- refused to let one kid speak b/c he skipped so many classes, so go to class and talk some and you will get a good grade.

I took this class because a 118W was recommended for first year English majors. Unfortunately, the class did absolutely nothing to advance my learning of English. She is a fairly interesting professor and I enjoyed learning about current issues, but I felt like the class was kind of a waste of my time.

Love her. Shes pretty liberal and her books are great. There were a lot of them and she expects you to do a lot of reading a week. We had the total of 6 papers, but she made the last two pretty simple. Very smart, and she doesnt want her students to graduate naiive. Not that bad grader. Gives opportunity for extra credit. Office hours help alot!!

The textbooks she picks out is so much more intereseting than other 118W coures. Refreshing change from the VandyBubble- actually get to talk about REAL LIFE, REAL Issues. Fair grader just talk to her. she is a sweetheart.

She definitely makes you work for your grade.. expect to write a paper a week in response to the reading. But she is a fair grader and keeps class very interesting with videos, handouts, pictures, current events discussions etc. Vibrant would probably the best word to describe her!

She really makes you think about issues. She pushes you to think and actually learn something, not just memorize and learn nonsense. I totally recommend her.. She's just a really nice professor too.. She really cares about her students...

I took her because I heard she was easy. It wasn't worth it. Her class was so pointless. I learned nothing. It's a waste of time to go, but you have to. She doesn't care about helping you write better or the study of literature. Take 118 instead.
