Chuck is the absolute man, and the BEST professor I have ever had at West Chester. He provides you with real world experience that is incredibly beneficial. If you have anything negative to say about him, you're just lazy and don't wanna do the work. He does everything he can to ensure you will do well.

He is the toughest grader I've ever had & he gives no explanation as to why he grades so harshly. This is a gen ed, there is no reason for him grade us like we're Journalism grad students. All you do is watch boring videos, write summaries, and then 3 big papers. Good luck getting an A in this class, a nice guy but should stick to 300/400 levels.

He rambles on and on about topics. he often gets off topic and he tends to call on people for answers. so make sure you pay attention and do the homework. attendance is mandatory. He is a very tough grader, he expects us to write like new york times journalists which is not fair.

Really liked the guy even though we had opposing viewpoints on most everything. He will go on about his own opinions on everything. However you can tell he cares about his students. Would recommend.

He is one of the worst professors I have ever had. He is such a tough grader even when you work so hard for it and talks about nonsense during class. When he talks, he sounds so uneducated and expresses his opinion too much you are scared to talk in his class. You basically write papers about what he thinks your answer should be. DON'T TAKE HIM.

Mr. Bauerlein is an awesome person. He engages with students, keeps you on your toes, and truly cares about his classes. However, in this particular class, it felt we were thrown into drills of writing without much prep at all for techniques or lessons on journalism writing. It was like being pushed into a pool without knowing how to swim.

Dr. Bauerlein is overall helpful and really cares about his students. There is four papers throughout the course and each one is about 3-5 pages long. At the end, there is a 10-12 page term paper. I liked him and he was interesting and brought up good points. However, it seemed like he had a political agenda and was really biased about it.

Took Professor Bauerlein for a summer class. Excellent professor, teaches on very interesting topics, encourages in class discussions, doesn't drown you with power points, very knowledgeable, and gives great feedback. Read the assignments he prints for you, participate in class, put effort into your papers and you'll get an A or B.

I had him for two hours a week for newswriting. Mondays were lectures and on Wednesdays we had to write news stories based on information he gave us that day in class. It's a good way to gauge how you'd do under a deadline.

I really enjoyed his class. You definitely have to put in a lot of time and work if you want a good grade though, especially towards the end of the semester. I got an A in his class, but I worked hard. He's clear on his guidelines and the class itself is interesting. Would recommend taking!

I want to start off by saying I absolutely hate writing. If I could go through life without ever writing a term paper again, I would be thrilled. With that said, his class was excellent. I actually did well (gasp). It does take work, but he is clear about what he wants. Do the requirements and you won't have any trouble.

I took him for 2 classes. He really appreciates students who put in effort and will take the time to discuss concerns with you. He's very left-leaning politically, and because of my conservative views I felt attacked and talked to him about it. He was very considerate and showed he cared by discussing my point of view with me. A really great prof.

I took the writing about the Apocalypses and he makes the class interesting. He really pays attention to research, sentence structure, and clarity. He does work with you. Only thing i don't like i feel as if he grades for what he "wants" to see in your paper. If you like a little bit of a challenge you should take the class.

I had Professor Bauerlein three separate times and I would take any class he teaches again. His background in journalism and his desire to help students made him my favorite professor at West Chester. You'll take one or no tests and his writing expectations are very clear.

At first I didn't like that he calls on people randomly, but he does try to help you through the questions so it isn't that bad. Throughout the course, I learned to really like him though. He has taught me a lot and is an overall really nice guy. If you're debating taking his class, go for it. It's a little challenging, but definitely worth it.

Very good guy and a great teacher. Comes off a bit unclear at the start of the class but once you start actually doing the assignments it becomes way easier. He's very down to earth and enjoys what he does. He definitely does not come across as your typical college professor. All the work is easy if you understand it. Take him for any JRN class

He wasn't supposed to teach our class and never let us forget it either. Jeez, he was always unprepared and would assign mundane assignments. He likes to hear himself talk I think. Since I'm a good writer I assumed that I would easily achieve an A but no I got a B+ working my butt off. He grades essays unfairly and i was often disappointed.
