Comment:
Groth is a VERY boring professor. The class is basically a study hall instead of an actually math class. If you get his class, sit in the back and do your other homework because you will be wasting your time by paying attention to him. The first test is really easy, second test is difficult, the final is okay. Do the MLM HW if you want to pass.

Prof Groth is an extremely caring teacher who wants his students to pass. BUT the class itself is very hard, the teaching style is hard to connect with. There is tons of homework but it is all due at the end of the quarter which is nice. Don't miss class but if you do, email him as to why you did. If you miss two classes your grade drops one letter

Do all the homework and you can get an A. The tests are extremely easy and are all based on the homework.

Groth is a truly a great guy, I dont know why everyone rags on him so much. It is true that his lectures are a little slower, but he really wants you to pass and makes it as easy as possible. Tests are very similar to homework problems, so if you can do them, you will pass with ease. He also allows a note sheet on every test with whatever you want

He is a good person not a good teacher. I passed the class but I taught myself, if your good at that you will be fine. The homework prepares you but it is a lot. I mean hes old so its hard to connect but the class is durable lol. And you get to have a cheat sheet lol best part! Lol both the final and midterm exam.

I really like Professor Groth. Yes, he is older than other professors but he truly cares about his students and wants them to do well. He is not a fast lecturer so if you struggle in math it is easy to understand. The tests are not hard if you understand the homework, and he does not try to make the questions harder then they have to be.

I had Groth for MAT135 and MAT136 (business calc 1&2). Funny dude, but not such a great professor. He cares about his students passing, but he's very old and tends to drag on with his lectures. The only upside is that he gives you CHEAT SHEETS for the tests, front and back whatever you want. Easy A's on tests. But LOTS of work.

Most boring professor I've taken. Lectures the whole time.. Doesn't answer questions directly, and gives hard tests which make up most of your grade. Goes off on boring tangents. He's really OCD about how the board looks too so he is more worried about that than actually teaching. If you want to pass Business Calc easily don't take him.

Very slow in lectures. Monotone voice. Easy class though and he's very approachable. Tests are easy and he tells you what is on them. Show up, listen and do the homework and you'll pass with ease

People rag on this dude, and I get it - he's odd at times and his stories are equally so and have almost nothing in common with the course, but you have to be an absolute fool to let this class get away from you. He teaches painfully slow, but I just spent the time teaching myself the material while in his lecture. He's tough on grading, that's it.

His lectures are hard to follow, he does a lot of unnecessary math. He allowed one full sheet front and back for midterm and final with whatever we wanted. The exams are EXACTLY like the online homework. He even puts a midterm and final review on mymathlabs. Very nice guy, really easy to get an A in the class.

Lectures are pretty obscure and he always goes off on tangents. Pretty goofy guy, wears the same clothes every class. But he is very nice and it really isn't a hard class to do well in. He grades attendance but you really don't need to pay attention to his lectures. Just do the homework and read the textbook and you'll do fine.

He does not go over the material, you have to teach your self and go to tutoring. the midterm and final is exactly the same as the online homework. my labs plus explains the questions well. if you have the choice do not take him, if not study the homework and understand it and you will be fine.

DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR ANY MATH SECTIONS! His lectures are disorganized and unclear. People who did all of the homework and studied hard still did poorly on the tests. His tests did not follow a standard math format and were unexpected. I basically taught myself the material through the online homework. If you can avoid taking please do so.

His lectures were very pointless to me but if you do the homework you should have no problem passing this class with an A. He also gives you study guides for the tests and allows a front and back note sheet for both. Great professor and class

Terrible teacher. DO NOT TAKE HIM. I had him for Business Stats and he talks a lot about useless theory that doesn't apply to what we are doing in class! I usually do well in my classes but he is bad. Also he takes attendance and if you miss it he drops you by a letter grade which isn't fair.

Okay. Charles Groth. This class was an easy topic, and the teacher knew what he was talking about, but his speaking style and speed at which he works are terrible. He takes forever to answer a simple question, so you won't have time to really ask him a complicated question. Regardless, he loves what he does. I HIGHLY SUGGEST YOU SIT IN THE FRONT

Not a great teacher at all. Doesn't like to help kids out in or out of class. Seems kinda frantic at all times. Homework is online so thats a plus but you won't understand how to do it from his notes.
