Dr. K is a cool dude. He tries to make chemistry interesting and relatable to actual real world things. Chemistry is just a hard class. He is one of the better choices for chemistry professors. You have to look back at the old tests because he usually repeats some of the questions in a different format on the regular exams.

Better option that most chem teachers. It took me 3 tests to figure this out. To do well on his tests, go over in class problems, lecture slides, chem recitation worksheets, and past 3 years of tests.

He posts his lecture slides and old tests online. If you go over the slides and old tests, you will be fine. But he is very nice to answer any questions you have.

Kirkpatrick was a good professor for chem 1. ALEKS will take up most of your time and can be frustrating to do sometimes. Tests are straightforward and are similar to past years' tests, use these to study. Let recitation worksheets be your friend and you'll be fine. Class can be boring, but you can tell he tries and is passionate about chemistry.

Kirkpatrick is a nice guy, and it isn't his fault that Gen Chem is run horribly by SLU. He does what he can, but the lectures are pretty worthless, most of this class is doing it on your own.

His lectures are hard to pay attention to, and most of your grade comes from homework assignments on ALEKS and exams. No extra credit or wiggle room, but if you take good notes and make sure to review you should pass

Kirkpatrick is a good guy who seems to care about his students. Chemistry at SLU is very difficult (weed-out), but his lectures didn't help much. I didn't study as much as I should have, so my advice would be to study every day (do not cram!!) and work through all of the in-class problems.

It is not Kirkpatrick's fault that this class is so hard, but he does not make it better. Go to class and listen!! Kirkpatrick gets a lot of his test questions right off the slide. My advice to you is to continuously study and take notes while doing aleks. The textbook kinda helps. This was by far the hardest class I have ever taken.

Don't bother going to class. Just read the book, and go through his powerpoints on your own. I had never received below an A in my life, but this class proved to be a struggle for me. Old tests are helpful, especially my year's because he made ours especially difficult in comparison to previous years. Good person, but def a weed-out course, gl.

There was no point in going to lectures. He often spent more time than necessary on one slide and usually went off topic. The problems we did in lecture are not even close to the ones on the exams. I found ALEKS to be not that beneficial. Even though it was some type of practice, I found that it was not helpful in preparing for exams.

Curriculum can be difficult if you try to cram the night before an exam, but it isn't too bad if you review every night. Overall, kirkdaddy is a good man and really wants his students to pass.

The class is pretty tough and material/lecture heavy. Only 3 tests plus one cumulative final. He follows the material well, and sometimes gets off topic. Take it upon yourself to really study and understand the material. Just going to class won't help. Go to SI!! Pretty chill dude though

I had Chem 1 with Kirkpatrick, and it was the worst thing I have ever sat through. He explained everything in the worst, confusing ways, and things only make sense if you already know what you're doing. He barely gives practice problems, and just reads off the slides with no clarification. Tests are almost literally impossible. Overall, NO!

I'd give him a 5 for personality, and if I could be more specific, I'd put the class at a 3.5 difficulty. He doesn't try making it hard. It's just that it's chemistry, of course it's going to be relatively difficult. I'd take him again, especially with the nightmares I've heard about the other gen chem lecturer.

I earned a lot from Kirkpatrick but had already taken the class through AP in high school. I found it more productive to read the chapters and do the problems to prepare for the test than focus 100% on the homework. He gives us enough resources to do well on the exams, and I don't think the exams are terrible, I would definitely recommend

Dr. Kirkpatrick was a good professor. He gave good clear lecture, pretty dry though so it was tough to pay attention. Probably the best option for chemistry as long as you can make yourself pay attention. Tests are difficult if you don't study, but as long as you stay on top of sapling and understand the test topics it's easy
