This class was a waste of time. She barely helped when you got help. She was not really good at speaking up so everyone could hear her. She was not good at explaining material. Her class was the hardest class in the world. I tried but honestly nothing worked no matter how hard I studied. I would say if you arent good with bio you shouldnt take it

Comment:

I had this teacher for my BIO-1001G class. Class time is spent going over powerpoints. She explains things very well and lets you know what will be on the tests. Tests combined with labs are what makes up your overall grade, so it is very important to study for the tests.

Comment:

Lots of people in my class didn't like her, but I think she's a great teacher. Make sure you come to lab and take notes on the slides. Not much homework, but as long as you study for the tests you will be fine. Also make sure to write down answers thoroughly. Highly recommend her; she knows her subject well!

Laursen is a great professor. She takes her time explaining things and is always open to questions from students. This is actually my second time taking her because I only got a D at 1st bc i didn't come to class and was always on my phone Just pay attention and stay off your phone You need to come to class and labs She loves what she does and it's nice to have a prof tht is like her Wish she taught more classes than just Micro

She's really willing to help students and keeps you updated with your grades. She goes over a lot of answers for exams and labs. Her exams are pretty tough but she gives study guides that help. Ends up dropping your lowest lab. Doesn't take attendance but I would show up if you want a good grade. Its a class you have to work for an A but take her.

This professor often comes off as crabby and rude. She expects you to completely understand all of microbiology after she lectures in a very detailed, descriptive, and complex way. She is helpful if you approach her. I would not recommend this professor, especially if you are not a science person.

She use every minute of her class period! she talks really low sometimes! She gives homework every once in a while but its quite difficult! she only gave extra credit towards the end of the semester and on tests, the extra credit is very hard. Like how do we supposed to know that?

Very sweet lady. test are not very hard and she gives study guides. Labs are fairly easy as well and she is very helpful. I definitely recommend taking her!

She is a good teacher. You really need to take good notes, asks questions if you dont understand and STUDY. She is very helpful when needed.. Sometimes she is a little moody but she bounces back. She doesnt show favoritism in my opinion. She never cancels class so dont count on that, she may let you go early from lecture and lab sometimes.

Loved her! For someone who's taught as many things as she has, she really knows her stuff. Really nice. She is more than willing to answer any and all questions. Gives worksheets to help with tests. Seriously, if you're a FCS or Nursing major, you will not regret taking her. Not that you have a choice concerning this class anyways ;)

She does NOT chose favorites. She just enjoys having convos w/ students who show interest. She'll answer ?'s Completely even if u nvr come 2 class. She makes the material more interesting by relating it to our lives or to medical stuff. If u show upto class u'll always kno exactly wuts going on. clear lectures.fun labs.if ur stupid change ur major.

She is very smart and dedicated to microbiology. The material is interesting but not at 8am. She tries to make it fun and for you to understand. She answers any and every question fully. She does however require you to attend class, and if you dont youll miss alot.

Easy Class! U could only attend lab & tests days and easily pull a B. She is usually a bit moody and seems to pick favorites in the class tho. She is super nice about working with people outside of class

She is the type or teacher that wants you to succeeded. The lectures are sometimes boring, and the tests are hard. She is a very nice lady though, and knows very well what she is teaching.
