Comment:
He is very clear but isn't that helpful, spends time confused looking at you work. He says that he is but really isn't. His grading is inconsistent and incorrect. He looks for what he wants to see and will lower your grade even if it is all correct or 90% complete. He says very bad jokes, and forgets things he says once he leaves the classroom.

One of the best professors at Wright State. Makes you work as well as think. Projects are tough but you will learn a lot. Study before going to class to follow better. He is helpful wen approached during office hrs. He comes off rude but that's how confident people come off when they know what they are talking abt. He knows the subject in n out!

Take his classes if you can! He eschews the math-heavy textbook derivations for real-world applications from industry. He will teach you aspects of Vibrations that might actually help you fix things intuitively!

Consistig of all around badassery Dr. Slater is a good teacher. People say he's is cocky, well that's how you come off when you actually know what you are talking about. The material is hard and that is why the class is hard, the difficulty has nothing to do with his teaching. Honestly laughed at his jokes, guess i'm lame haha

Excellent professor. One of WSU Engineering Dept's best. If you have the option, take him. The students who dont like him typically dont understand the material and are too proud to ask for help (or they just dont like his dry sense of humor). Take the opinions of those who had him for 212 with a grain of salt, they havent had a hard class yet.

He is a pretty tough professor and expects a lot out of his students. I definitely learned more from his class than any other so if you actually give a crap about what you're learning, slater is one of the best professors you can take.

About 1/3 to 1/2 of our class had to retake. The material is rushed which is most likely not Slater's fault. He encourages students to meet with him. If you do you will have a high chance of passing. His grading system is a bit unusual. The final will destroy even the brightest students. Difficult class.

One of the best teachers I've had in awhile. The class is very difficult, but he always makes time for his students outside of class. Makes great effort to help students understand, esp in office hours. Class is rushed (10 chapters, 10 weeks), but if you practice and go for help, you'll get through it. You can't pass this class without hard work.

I learned more in this class than all of my previous ones combined (and I'm a senior). Anytime I didn't understand something, Dr. Slater was completely understanding and helpful. The people that stated he wasn't helpful just weren't willing to work hard...and believe me, his classes are tough, but not impossible with a good attitude and hard work.

Dr. Slater is a challenge. He definately seems to have forgot what it's like to be an undergrad, having expectations more suitable to graduate studies. That said, he won't leave you in the dust. If you need help, just ask. By far one of the best professors for one who cares about their education.but the amount of homework he gives is obsene.

He expects a lot from his students, which is a refreshing change from being spoonfed. He is clear about his expectations from the start, which makes it easier to achieve a lot.

If you take his class, bring a shoe horn to wedge yourself in the classroom. His ego does more than fill the room. ...And answering emails to berate students isn't helpful.

It would have helped if he would have showed up. He missed 3 classes. It would have helped if he liked more than the sound of his own voice. He may answer email, he may keep office hours, but unless you want to be made to feel 3 feet tall all the time and told to go do it on you own, don't bother.
