Comment:
Professor Barker explained his expectations very clearly. There are weekly assignments that are due, so be prepared to take an afternoon off for those. Sometimes I feel as though he doesn't double check his feedback seeing as there were some errors. Be prepared to do lots of reading. Overall, I learned a lot.

Online is easy to get an A. Points based grading, just need to complete mandatory assignments and meet the minimum points. Don't buy a book! You only need the access code. Tests are timed but you can pause(best bet is to copy and paste into a word doc). Teacher was difficult to work with, and not willing to help students. Have to teach yourself.

Don't take his class online. He is very unhelpful and changes assignments at the last minute. Was unclear on what he wanted. Hope his in person class is better, because his online class is horrible.

Professor Barker is easy to contact, however he replies with something completely irrelevant. It is REQUIRED that you take 12, 100 question exams weekly, do learning modules, and write short answers weekly or you WILL NOT PASS. Also there are about 20 tedious short assignments due every Sunday. However, I reached a 4.0 by week 4.

Comment:
The material he has us study is really interesting. He touches on some great stuff and his explanations of things are pretty good. However his writing is really, really difficult to understand. I don't know how he does it but he manages to make even the most simplest sentence a complete mess and overly complicated.

Comment:
It's not a hard class, but he's not a good teacher. Barker is unhelpful and unclear when explaining his assignments, and he is then rude if you ask him for further advice. All his assignments are due online, in a very hard-to-use course window. If you do the work, you'll pass. But he's extremely condescending and rude, so expect no help from him.

I honestly had no problem with him or the class. In fact it's been one of my favorite classes since I've been attending OC. The class is pretty to get an A in, so long as you do the work. He is a very energetic and fun teacher. My only complaint would be that he does not inform his students far enough in advance if a class is going to be cancelled.

Avoid this instructor at all cost, what a terrible class this was. Very confusing in assignments, syllabus doesn't match portal, arbitrary dates for tests, busy work, impossible assignments with no way to complete them unless making "stuff" up. DOES NOT respond to questions with any regularity, poorly posted grades. So many things wrong!

Goes off points system. 4000 points possible, 2000 points to get a 4.0. I stopped going halfway through the quarter when I reached my 2000.

WORST online ever! VERY scatter brained. His own syllabus does not follow course & students failed test on it.States 1 thing-changes his mind, forget changes, loses assignments,ALWAYS messed up on grades. Portal just as bad-always down, stops during tests or not working at all. KEEP record of gr. as proof!Easy A if worth sanity & covering butt!

For psych 100 you hardly need to come to class. He doesn't take attendance and only lectures. Lots of work to do online, though. Easy to get a 4.0

The lectures were mostly notes and slides but he did always pause to ask if we had questions which i appreciate. Its mainly an online component, i regretted taking the physical class. Same type assignments each week, you know what to expect. No final. Accumulative point based system, so if you met the min. reqs it ended up being easy to get to a 4.0

Worst professor ever. Cancelled class quite a bit, online work is INCREDIBLY time consuming. Never replies to emails when looking for help. Not sure why he teaches. Very unclear and lectures drone on. He has his good days, but the book has definitaly taught me more than he has. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS

Unless you have to, don't take a class from this guy. The online class is very time consuming, and it is sometimes unclear how he organizes everything. Every time I try to email him with a question he never responds. When I go to his office to ask if he got it he says he did but just didn't reply... Awful.

Other than a couple of assignments, it's all done online. The web portal you have to use is faulty. It kicks you off during tests, won't let you submit answers during quizzes, doesn't let you upload papers and various other problems. He tells you to call the hotline and they eventually start ignoring you. HORRIBLE!!!!!!

I'm not even done with the quarter, & I can already say I would NOT suggest this class or prof. to ANYONE! He is very unclear with what he wants, & really phones in the whole teaching thing. It's pretty much an online course. Also, all the work is group work. He mispronounces words, & has very little patience. Not sure why he teaches. Awful class

I had Barker for Abnormal Psych, and I thought he was a very interesting teacher. He was certainly easy, given that it was a points based system and there were tons of easy point opportunities available. So, as soon as you got all your points you got a 4.0. The only thing, for being a social worker and therapist he's not a very patient person.

While I think that he is a nice person, via the online learning, he's not really an instructor. However, he does grade the weekely papers. Overall, I felt like there was way too much work for a 5 credit class. There isn't very good communcation either. Questions asked are like a thorn in his side. He seems irritated. Poorly structured class.

I took this class online and it is WAY more work than I ever expected. With a total of 3000 points possible, there is too much is gets overwhelming. I look at the weekly schedule of things to do and I get exhausted just looking at it. He is extremely helpful with anything that is unclear and seems like a great professor. Just to much going on :|
