Korey's class is standard based- meaning you don't receive number grades, you either complete the standard or don't... and you have to complete x amount to get an A. His lectures are awesome, he gives a lot of worksheets but they're modeled exactly like the problem sets he gives out. You can work on problem sets in groups. Tests are all take home.

Comment:

Dr. Korey is an amazing professor. He is very helpful and really wants you to do well. The homework isnt hard, but you must pay attention and take notes in class if you want to do well on the exams. Extra assignments are given to help your grade. If you put in the work and study the material, this class is an easy A.

Dr. Korey was amazing, truly one of my favorite teachers I have ever had. He has such an intellectual charisma and a calmness that is hard not to learn from. A bit weird, but wants to get to know all of his students and wants nothing but success for each one of them.

There are pre-reading quizzes online and modules! I forgotten to do a few and still managed to keep an amazing grade! Test three is the hardest. Don't be afraid to answer questions, he will answer them, but if you don't you might be lost.

He's a really good professor. We had preclass quizzes online that were about the chapter we were talking about in class the next day. We had test corrections for our lst exam. The 2nd section got a little more difficult, but the 3rd section was defiantly the hardest of the four. Four exams plus final and online hw, not an easy A, but not too hard.

He is an amazing biology professor, but really does make you work for the grade. Let us do test corrections on the first exam, and we got to drop an exam grade at the end of the semester. All around a very intelligent, and he is so smart it does seem like he doesn't know how to dumb it down, but we had our own personal SI instructor to help.

Dr. Korey is incredibly smart (Notre Dame undergrad Harvard for grad school) He is there for you if you need help but you need to work for your grade. Not an easy class but I learned more than I would in any other class. Take it you are looking for a really good base in biology. But, if your taking it for fun.... DONT. Allowed to miss 6 classes.

Dr. Korey is really into what he does but he isn't a good teacher. You do a lot of extra work that has absolutely nothing to do with his tests which are short answer only. Nothing except his handouts prepare you for his tests. Going to SI and doing the practice tests are the only ways to pass his tests.

Dr. Korey makes you work for your grade. if you are a student that doesn't like to read, do online homework every night, or really pay attention is lecture you will not do well. If you do what Dr. Korey asks and go to SI you can pass his class with an A. He wants all his students to do well and is super nice and helpful.

Dr. Korey is the nicest, most easy-going biology professor in the department honestly. It helps that he is relatively attractive as well. However, don't sign up for him if you are lazy, or do not put forth effort, or don't study. If you do not read before class his lectures can be confusing. You work in small groups.

Dr. Korey may be the single worst teacher I have ever had. He may know a lot about biology, but virtually nothing about the topics covered in class so HOW COULD HE TEACH US!? No multiple choice on anything. Impossible test questions. Cumulative exam. No extra credit. It honestly felt like he was trying to make me fail. He'll trash your gpa, beware

Dr. Korey knows a lot about biology, but doesn't know how to teach it well. His research and his FYE came before our class. No multiple choice on any of the tests or the final. Don't take his class, it will hurt your GPA

Dr. Korey is a really tough teacher. There are reading quizzes almost every night and the tests are all free response. The test questions are ridiculously hard and if you state exactly what he's looking for, you'll get it wrong. He knows a lot about biology, just doesn't know how to teach it. I don't recommend taking his classes.

Not a good professor. When asked questions he did not know how to explain anything. He knew his stuff, just didn't know how to teach it. There are 3 reading quizzes a week. He is very confusing. Attendance is mandatory. He's awkward. He's so busy, that he barely has time for students, and you always feel rushed during his office hours.

He is okay. Too much HW and reading out of the book. Tests are not based on reading from the book, but his in class guides. Don't do the reading guides, and the FBS chapter reading quizzes are hard and not relevant to the class. He doesn't know much about BIO 111, therefore cannot answer questions in class. He is over committed to his research.

Dr. Kore is OKAY. You need to be willing to taking strenuous notes and be willing to do your own teaching. He is overly committed to other areas of his work and his research that our class came second. This lack of dedication to our class showed and some people's grade reflected it. He needs to just teach and not run FYE/FYSE.

Dr. Korey is an awesome guy. His class was always fun but the material was a little difficult. He's really smart but he isn't always the best at explaining things. Go to the CSL and you'll be ok. You HAVE to read the textbook because the tests are pretty hard but I think that his teaching style better prepared me for higher level courses.

I enjoyed Dr. Korey's class from a few years ago. His tests are pretty hard, but you can tell he wants to make sure you know the material well. He also recommended outside material for extra credit, which was great to broaden your understanding/perspective. He is willing to help his students too, and overall he is passionate and wants you to learn.

TAKE CLASS! Prof. Korey is amazing and really helpful. His FYSM is very interesting. Though it's a lot of concepts does a lot of easy papers to help with grade. Definitely study for his exams aka his test they are a bit hard but not if you study. Recommend this class.

Comment:

This was one of my favorite classes. Dr. Korey is a GREAT teacher and if you study and participate in class you will do well. There is a good bit of writing incorporated in the class, but it is overall very easy.
