Comment:

I feel bad because she is a sweet lady, but a terrible professor. She takes attendance, but only asks a few questions from her lectures and most of the test is based on the book. She takes too long to grade things and cant stick to a schedule. we have one class left and she hasn't taught any material for our final exam.

Comment:

Overall she is a very sweet lady. However, she's a bit all over the place in terms of organization. It took her a month and a half to give us our 1st exams back. When it was time to take our 2nd exam, she pushed it back repeatedly and offered no reason why. She doesn't seem to know what she's talking about most of the time and contradicts herself.

Comment:

Dr. Schellenbach is a very kind, caring, and sweet professor. She is always enthusiastic about the topics she lectures. Attending class is a must as she does not use moodle nor power point. Reading the book is also a must! There are 3 exams and 1 research paper.

I can't even review this professor because she cancelled class five times in the first 3 weeks and had a new professor replace her because she was all over the place. Wouldn't recommend her

By far the greatest professor I have had. she is on your side, and wants to see you succeed. Whoever was not a fan of her did not study or find social work interesting. Learned a lot from her, she changed my mindset on many things and gave me a positive perspective on life. GO TO CLASS YOU NEED TO BE THERE FOR HER NOTES OR ELSE YOU WONT PASS.

Comment:

compassionate and respectful. A great professor is one who cares about their students and wants to see them succeed, she is the epitome of that. Yes, class was canceled more than once, however, she did not expect you to know what she did not cover in class. Learned a lot from her, her approach is positive, she is fair, she does respond to emails.

There's not enough characters to explain. 10 min. late every class for the 1st 12 of semester. Cancelled class 4-5 times w short notice. Handed in intro to final paper 2nd week of sept. Got feedback last week of nov. Says she replies to emails, doesn't. Takes months to grade scantron exams. Basically teaching myself material for the final exam.

By far one of the worst professors ever. She either shows up late or cancels class. We had three test and one paper and are finial test is next week and we got nothing back. She doesn't email you back or post anything on MOODLE. You can basically teach yourself and you will still pass. Would not recommend her.

Would not take another class with her. We got our fist exams back one week before we took the second. It took more than four weeks for her to grade a 2 page paper. Repeat excuses as to why she is late. Cancelled class 3 times with NO EMAIL or prior notice. Terrible study guides. The only useful thing she did was pick a good textbook

She came to class 13 minutes late twice, saying this never happens. She came to the final EIGHTEEN minutes late. It would take over a month to get our tests back. She would say she'd have them next class repeatedly. She didn't respond to any of my four emails. I was so excited about this class but her attitude and excuses made me lose interest.

As a professor, she's great. If you go to class and takes notes you will do fine. I never used my book and still got a 3.7 in the course. She's clear and explains things very well.Just come to class, take the notes and you will pass.

Honestly, she is one of the most understanding & interesting professors I've had. She had several of her family members pass away during the semester yet still made class her priority. In addition, I had an accident & was unable to turn in a paper and she was understanding. She is fair & extremely willing to work with students.

Odd how attendance is mandatory for a 300+ level class. 2 exams, a research paper, and final leaves little chance to raise your grade. Got the first exam back the day before the second, got the second exam back the day of the final. Schellenbach is a sweet, fair prof but doesn't get anything back on timely manner.

She is a very nice professor, but took 2 months to give back a one page paper we did on a movie, and her tests wouldn't be passed back till 2 weeks later. She does not post anything on moodle including your grades or even notes. Attending class is important. Would not recommend

She's a very sweet lady but she is not at all clear about what is expected in papers and on tests, despite study guides. Attendance mandatory and notes are not online. A lot of the class is review from soc100.

Took this course sometime in 2010, couldnt afford a text book at the time, passed her course with her notes & completed required assignments. This was 1 of 2 course I've taken with her & was very pleased. Thanks for such a great experience!!!

Comment:

She is one of the nicest teachers I have had at OU! She puts her notes on the board during class and those are basically what your take-home exams come from. Barely read the textbook. You have to do one group presentation, but you just do your own thing & present on the same day, easy! Only con: She doesn't tell you your grade unless you ask for it
