Absolutely Genius, knows everything there is to know about European and German History. However he is a tough grader, too confusing and INCREDIBLY dry. Avoid if you can.

Comment:

hands down the most knowledgeable professor I have EVER had. However, he is utterly too smart and old to understand him effectively these days. He is a German master (literally knows everything there is to know) yet, he is hard to understand and goes on and on about things which get confusing. Brilliant man, extremely nice, and amazing to talk to!

This guys just too old to teach anymore, especially in the LC's. He knows everything there is to know about the 20th century, but his lectures are so boring. Instead of listening, I sit in the back and do the reading. Really easy class though, it's basically all high school material. You'll get a good grade, but the lectures are so dull.

AMAZINGLY intelligent. Class can be very dry, but White is a great teacher, and one of the most intelligent men I have ever met (if you can power through his lectures). Textbook reading highly recommended!

Great class if you're a history major and a very nice professor. He makes you think and you do have to read, but that is what being a history major is so it should not come as a surprise. The class can be a bit boring at times but you'll learn a lot :)

White is a terrific professor once you pick up on how to follow him. I took three of his courses. He may not produce study guides, but his topics in the syllabus and lectures clearly outline what you need to know for exams. You need to do the readings because they are critical in his class(Else why would you take history if you don't like reading?)

Professor White is the most knowledgeable teacher I have ever had. Some of the complaints people have hear I can see, but for me I had no problems with his lecture, there is a lot of info but just pay attention, isn't that the idea. He tries to help people out with the grading and is helpful if you have questions. Ive taken 3 of his classes

Subject matter is very interesting, however White does nothing to keep you invested. He is obviously well educated in the subject but he jumps around SO much that it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep up with him. It is a lecture with him talking the whole class and with him writing important events and names on the board BUT with no rhyme or reason. horrible.

Took history of Germany with him, awful class, 90% of class shows up just to sign in. Refuses to give study guides so you're stuck guessing what's on the tests. Stands in front of the class and mumbles for the entire class time, anything important he writes on the board but chances are you can't read it. Wouldn't recommend

Had to drop his class before I even took the mid term. Extremely boring. Can barely hear him. Midterm consisted of remembering over 500 pages of reading and then writing in essay format. Lectures are ALL OVER THE PLACE. He jumped from one name/country to the next. Could not follow him. Unless your very knowledgeable in the subject do not take.

World in the 20th century was horrible. Nobody knew how to study for the final. In class he talks forever and it is not clear. He is a nice old man however way too difficult to understand. He knows his stuff but he isn't good at conveying what he knows to his students. BORING BORING BORING bring your laptop you will be on facebook a lot.
