He obviously loves what he does, and he knows what he is doing. Earning his respect is the best possible reward for good work. He doesn't use slides though, so if listening to lectures isn't your thing, you won't be a good fit.

Dan Bran's the man! He's the most intelligent and articulate person I have ever had the pleasure of speaking to. He is respected by his students and provides the same respect in return, never condescending and always eager to help. I always leave our tutorials inspired, not only understanding but appreciating the beauty in the topic.

Every time I've ever gone to him for extra help with a particular text, he's always made me feel validated in asking all my questions. He takes extra care with explaining things clearly and thoroughly. His lectures are some of the most beautiful things I've ever listened to. He has a way with words, and wants you to succeed.

This man is sometimes referred to by my cohort as "God", and for good reason. He is the most intelligent and articulate person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Perfectly crafted sentences seem to just fall out of his mouth without any conscious effort. He is intimidatingly smart, but very friendly and humble when approached in person.

Dr. Brandes is an extremely knowledgeable philosopher, and one of the most talented lecturers I've had the pleasure of hearing. His perspective on philosophy, although somewhat narrowly focused on Arendt and neo-platonic streams of thought, is refreshing and hard to disagree with.

Daniel is the secret king of philosophy at King's. I've never met anyone smarter in my life, and he's just so clear and articulate that you feel like Hannah Arendt herself is speaking. Just a brilliant and hilarious professor. A++

Daniel Brandes is the reason I enjoyed FYP. He is clearly born to teach, and loves every second of it. He is somewhat of a hard marker, but also extremely helpful. As my main tutor he has always been there for me during essay weekends-be it by phone, email or in his office-even during the off sections when he wasn't tutoring my group. Amazing man!
