Comment:
The amount of material that is covered in this class is insane, but Professor Sourbeer makes it as easy as possible for you to understand. He is extremely organized and the lecture outline was very helpful. Don't let the reviews below fool you, the class is only easy if you study A LOT. I got an A, but only because I studied as much as I could.

I took his ZOO 100 class, and I loved it. He inspired me to pursue my passion in Marine Biology and once I get into my Bio classes, I'll probably try to get into one of his classes. The class was a lot of work, and there's a lot of info to take in; as long as you show him you want to learn, he will be happy to help you out.

Very in depth class, a lot of information coming at you all at once. You have to keep up otherwise the tests will be impossible. Prof. Sourbeer is definitely on your side though. He will take the time to help you understand and perfect your papers.

Professor Sourbeer is one of the best professors at Palomar. I've taken Bio 201 with him and did find out that it was really hard, but interesting too! I took his Bio 114 class just for fun and loved it! I would definitely recommend any class he teaches!

He drones on and on and He intimidates you. First test is kind of hard difficulty of maybe a 7 out of 10, but then the other tests are 2 out of 10. I think he tries to get students to drop so he makes the first test hard, but then makes the rest of them super easy. Got a 96 with little work to do.

well this class was pretty simple for me. took it spring 2010. easier than 200 by alot. for bio 200 i studied about 6 hrs a week and got an A, this class avg of 3 hrs of studying and got an A-. Kind of slept through the class. No drop tests, but you can make up or retake one exam. Didnt need to. Got high As on all his test but didnt do hw

I took this class in 2008 and I am disapointed by recent ratings that describe him as easy. When I took his class, it was the hardest, but also most interesting and valuable. I feel bad for people that he went easy on b/c they are missing out so much. Bio 201 got me so addicted to bio, I am now a grad student and cant get enough

Labs are sweet. We dissected things almost every session. Not for the weak stomachs. We pretty much had to rip a poor little pig to shreds, exposing literally everything! Professor himself is on your side! He always encourages questions and interaction. Grades things super quickly! You want an A, you will get an A. But you certainly have to want it.

Professor Sourbeer is a true teacher. While he expects you to do your part, he does not expect you to give up your life. The first month he got everyone in our class on edge, saying that we need to study everyday (i didnt). Well test one was easy. In retrospect test 1 was the hardest of 3 tests. they got easier and easier. Not much effort needed

Well what can i say. Attendance is not really mandatory. Missed about five classes and still got an A-. It kinda seems he tries to scare you for tests. He says study alot and everyday. We did a study group for two nights right before the test and all did well. Not the easist A I have gotten, but you do not have to do that much to get an A.

Simply easy!Comments below are misleading. Teacher is nice, he told us that this class would be difficult and not to cram for the test. Well i did not study but 3 hrs before each test. it was truly easy. People who want to get an A without working take this class.Maybe in the past he was hard, but i guess now he is way chill & makes it an easy A+++

I just took the class for fun and the opportunity to learn how to teach from someone who others see as a great teacher. Sourbeer is amazing and his broad teaching experience with Jr. Highers, High Schoolers, and college kids is clear! The course shovels a ton of info down your throat, but Sourbeer is there to help you ruminate over it all the way.

Sourbeer is incredibly organized and very helpful. It's a lot to learn and take in but it's very interesting, and he has outlines of his lectures available for studying. The animal report is a breeze if you turn in a rough draft before for him to grade. He's very smart and eager to teach and as long as you are eager to learn you will do well!

GREAT TEACHER! He really loves science and was eager to answer any questions. Great lectures; don't miss class. You HAVE to study your notes for the tests, but barely have to read your book. The final animal report is much more difficult then it seems, make sure you turn your rough draft into him early like he suggests.

GREAT teacher. This is not an easy class. If science is not your thing and you just want to float - do NOT take this class. Difficult, but he is there for you the whole way. Use his tips and you will ACE this class.
