He is pompous, condescending and hilarious. Follow his outline method for your papers, read your assignments and participate in class. To expand on participation, if you want points, make sure you give him the answer he wants. He's not one of those profs who wants to hear your theory. There is only one, and it is his.

I had Dr. Sheraw as my english professor this past fall 09 semester and he was by far my favorite teacher! He is way too funny with his outfits and little jokes. As for the class it really is not hard at all as long as you read the SHORT stories. He is very helpful if you need any extra help. oh, and PARTICIPATE in class, you get extra points!!!!

I had to drop his class. If you're a freshman, wait to take the class because he hates underclassmen. His pop quizzes were very hard and ridiculous. you must read the homework (which is like 8 poems a night.) and use must know them very well. Good luck!

Had Dr. Sheraw in the very early years of his career but not at Clarion. He was my advisor too. He is extremely intelligent and very kind. His sharp wit kept everyone engaged. Kudos to him for teaching for the past 35 years!

the minutes went by so slow for this class. he is never prepared and gets off subject about useless things. if you read the stories and follow the guidelines for the papers it will be easy to get an a/b though. easy class, headache of a teacher though

Dr. Sheraw was okay. He lost track of what he was saying in class and would take a while to remember where he was going with what he started to say (I guess he's just getting old though). He does joke around which helps but his tests and quizzes are tricky. If interested in the class you're taking and he's teaching it, you'll do fine.

He has a very dry sense of humor. He can be extremely funny at times, but his pop quizzes (which he tries to tell you are occassional) are quite difficult. Trust me, read ALL readings. He quizzes you on all of them. He is like the absent minded professor. He doesn't always know what's going on.

The most pompous **** I have ever met. Every day he would mark me absent b/c I sat behind a big girl and he didnt see me. His book is thousands of times more important than you. His arrogance is revolting, lecture drab and confusing(4 different versions for each story, which is tested?),and he failed me even after meeting the requirement he set.

i took comp and lit, satire, mythology, and english lit from him. i loved all the classes i took with him. i really connected with his sense of humor and always got good grades on any paper i wrote for him. if you try he gives you a chance. i found him very personable and a hoot.

You must spell the names correctly. I didn't think it was that bad, but I liked the subject. Lots of lecture. Had a friend who absolutely HATED myth after this class. He gives extra points if you answer stuff in class, So chime in! SHOW UP! Stay for the full time of the test, he often screws up the questions! So read the test carefully.
