hes a great professor and knows his things, but honestly, i have NEVER thought i would have to read 4 chapters and 500 pages a week. He goes over the material before the quiz, but it isnt what it seems. overall, hes funny and chill. 7 page essay at the end and the final, which were extremely easy if you do good on the quizzes.

Fake 4.5, Awful professor. I took a night class and everyone was asleep while he talked BS for hours. He is a nice guy but Greek civ is boring and he makes it even worse. He gives out stupid quizzes that are so detailed and difficult. He expects you to read a 1000 page book in a month, as if we dont have other classes. Doesn't let class out early.

Pretty Easy Professor, interesting class but can be a bit boring at times. He gives quizzes almost every week and you'll have to do a 7-12 page essay at the end. Pay attention, write notes, scan through the readings and you'll do fine.

Prof Dave is awesome. Hilarious dude, keeps you interested. Took the class for GenEd so I wasn't really interested in it, but he made class entertaining. Lots of reading though, you need all the books. His tests are pretty easy as long as you pay attention. He usually goes over the material right before you do the test anyway. He sounds like Kronk.

all the books are necessary. the readings need to be done because the quizzes are based on them. he helps out by going over the material before the quiz which helped me pass some quizzes. he gave a long research paper but helped me when i was stuck. there is a lot of reading but his a good professor so just pay attention

All 4 books are necessary. "Pop Quizzes" every other week but he goes over the readings and whats going to be on it before hand. Lecture notes can be confusing so pay attention. Overall a really nice guy if you pay attention you'll be okay.

Pretty cool for an ol' prof. Very knowledgable and cracks corny but humorous jokes that make class more bearable. Never read for homework and still got As on tests and the midterm. Could do without his little anti-Obama remarks but would take again

I took him for Roman Civilization. He is an excellent professor, very intelligent, and passionate about his teachings. I would love to take him again if he only taught my major! Exams will be difficult and there is a paper due at the end of the semester that will probably take endless nights to finish. I think it's pretty worth it.

Lovely, lovely person. Made Roman Civ. very enjoyable. He's quite a charming and funny person. It's a bit obvious I'm swooning for this man, but his class was one of my favorites to take, and I had to take it for a requirement. Have to study hard though bc tests are no walk in the park.

Took Dr. Caulfield for a night class and he was really great. Really passionate and knows his stuff. The way he writes notes on the board tend do tend to get confusing but he makes the class really easy and interesting. Mid term was cake and so are his quizzes. And his topics on for final paper are interesting.

Really gets to know his students and does everything he can to keep class interesting and light-hearted. I would recommend him to anyone

Best professor I've had at MSU so far. Really gets to know his students and does everything he can to keep class interesting and light-hearted. Yea his humor is a little corny, but I have to admit he cracked me up often. Also willing to work with you if you need help. EXCELLENT professor, great guy, and genuine. HIGHLY recommend ol' prof.

I had to register for the Troy and the Trojan War late evening class with Dr. Caulfield. To my surprise, I had consumed so much information and knowledge through the professor's teaching. I've never read so much in my life in such a short period of time, but the professor made it so interesting that I actually wanted to read. Highly recommended.

Nice, reasonable man who is passionate about classics (and I get the impression that he loves Roman culture). If you tend to be of a liberal persuasion, you might be irritated by his conservative allusions in class, but nothing so severe as to destroy his credibility as a teacher. 7-12 pg. paper for Roman Civ, mildly difficult exams.

Prof. Caulfield is one of the best professors(if not THE best)I've ever had @ MSU,& he made Greek Civ. fun to learn about (before this class, Greek Civ. bored me). There are weekly reading assignments and quizzes (which are easy), and you have to take notes and pay attention, but if you work hard, you'll get an A. Take him-you won't regret it! >:)
