Comment:
David Fox was a great professor! I can tell he was a very caring professor and wanted everyone to actually learn about his course rather than just pass. The quizzes were very difficult since the notes were hard to understand. The labs saved my grade though. I recommend this class.

I took this course as a Lib Ed. I really did not pay attention too much in lecture, but he would post all slides online. There are 3 quizzes throughout the course, and you can do mediocre on them and still pass. You do have to go to the lab section, if you do not go you will fail. Highly recommend for S/N lib ed. David is passionate and hilarious.

I like David. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about paleontology, however a lot of the time lectures seemed never-ending because hed just talk and talk about topics that didnt pertain to the main point. One thing that annoys me is that he has not put any grades in canvas for the whole semester so basically I have no idea what my grade is.

The lectures themselves are a bit boring, but the handouts are enough to get you a good grade if you study them. I found the class quite interesting and he is a good and funny lecturer. The labs and homework are easy. I would recommend this class.

Show up to lectures and labs and you're guaranteed atleast a B+ (based on effort ofcourse).Quizzes can be rough avg. hung around 75% for my class but luckily labs and homework (online unltd. tries) are worth a lot of points. Lowest lab and lowest quiz are dropped.

Funny, helpful and knowledgeable. Sometimes strays from lecture material to tell stories about the more "human" side of paleontology etc. Sometimes (10-30% of time) hard to understand in lecture, but he's very approachable and is more than willing to answer any questions or clarify anything. Glad I took vertebrate paleontology with him.

He goes into a lot of detail on some stuff, which can be good if you are interested in the topic, but can throw you off if you're just trying to get credit for the class. Overall, great speaker and extremely knowledgeable.

In his lectures, it's like he puts you in the shoes of a scientist who's trying to figure out a problem, and then walks you through the solution - which makes class really, really interesting. I took it because I needed a science course and I was WAY more into it than I thought I'd be.

David is amazing. He clearly conveys scientific concepts, and when it comes to providing “real world†examples/application of the material, he's brilliant. He's down-to-earth and nice â€" he wants you to use his first name, and he helps out as long as needed in office hours. He's also funny. My interest in Earth science skyrocketed during this class.

Good professor. Really made it fun and interesting. Class lectures were a bit long but not too bad. Lecture material was the basis of exams. Good class to take if you're trying to knock out a requirement.

He seemed to know a lot about what he was talking about, and the class was easy enough. However he often verbally complained about lackluster lecture attendance while teaching, which really annoyed the students who were present and trying to learn.

Pretty boring lectures. Half the class doesn't come to lectures, but I think it's pretty important because you get a piece of paper with the key points on it (that is what you need to study for tests) and these are not put online. If you put in some effort you should get an A or B.

Not a hard class at all. Fox gets really into his lectures which is super funny. But he's willing to help anyone who needs it. He gives you a bunch of hints of what's going to be on the test.

This class was really easy and he made it really easy and fun. As long as you studied even a little it would be hard to get below a B. He was funny, which made the lectures more interesting, and he gave you hints for the test, so I think his classes are worth while.

David is a great professor! Even though I'm an English major, he made it possible for me to be semi interested in rocks. He is really witty and makes the subject matter interesting with his insane stories.

Good teacher, willing to help you learn! Boring class, but made it fun to learn. Tests are very hard- lots of recall ( ex: short word questions, filling in definitions)....should go to class, even though he posts online lecture notes. He's cute too =) That was my motivation to go to class!
