Comment:

Lectures are interesting, but they are kind of all over the place. This is the first English class I've had where I didn't do all of the readings. Couldn't keep up with all of them along with my other classes. Class is tough. He gives excellent feedback on papers.

Comment:

I learned more in this class than any of my other Lit classes so far. He is not an easy professor, but he is very intelligent and I found the material intriguing. His lectures are a bit absentminded; write down everything and decipher it later. Tests come from those notes, his blogs, and the worksheets. He was willing to help if students tried.

This class was really difficult for me as a freshman. He gives worksheets for homework and reading quizzes which help boost points, but his lectures are puzzling and his handwriting is terrible. Also, he never answers emails.

Comment:

Hanson is the best English teacher I've ever had, hands down. I loved the material we covered in class, and he was always willing to help outside of class hours. As long as you read the material and participate in discussion, the tests are easy. He takes questions straight from the discussions.

Comment:

Dr. Hanson is very attentive to his students in class. He is a compassionate person and is very expressive with his eyes when he speaks and listens. I enjoyed his class very much, including his way of side-tracking on a topic in order to understand it more liberally.

Southeastern is lucky to have such a professor. He's knowledgeable and personable, and he doesnt treat his students as if they arent capable of handling knowledge, like many professors I've had. Take him; you'll be better for it.

I agree to this comment: Dr. Hanson is a very intelligent man, but his class is very boring. He is very knowledgeable, but very dry and monotoned. If you are not very interested in DEEPLY ANALYZING the courses material don't bother. Also, he studders, which is nothing against him, but it got annoying.

He is a very good teacher and knows his material. On the flip side, he does stutter which makes it hard to understand him and he is monotoned (but not as bad as some of the other teachers). I liked his class and will take him again for 122H.

Found Dr. Hanson to be very knowledgeable and very easy to work with when it came to papers and such. He is always willing to help, and open to answering questions. He does have a habit of getting off topic at times, but overall it adds to the class in a positive way. I would highly recommend taking his classes.

High quality teacher. Very intelligent. To be able to teach Paridise Lost or Beowolf is pretty impresive. Every test was an essay, but he gives you examples of good essays and clearly points out what he's looking for.
