He's a chilled guy. You should show up to his class but it's not really important. Class is often boring and you can be on your computer all the time. The coding assignments aren't too hard if you put an effort to understand the materials.

Dr. Reed is a really awesome teacher and an overall great guy. If you talk to him and get to know him, you can tell he really cares. His class is not easy, but he encourages questions and problem solving to figure out the code. If that doesn't work, he's there for you if you need him. 10/10

Dr. Reed taught a very great course. I learned a ton, and was challenged. You will work for it, so don't think you can skate, but it's worth it! Would 100% take again!

Always willing to help during office hours. You cannot rely on doing the project the night before it is due. I would recommend doing projects a week in advance and having him look at it. His lectures cover the topic and basics, but the way you do well is through practice and doing the homework.

Dr. Reed is a great teacher. Cares about the students and the subject, as well as being very knowledgeable. The classes aren't easy, but really what can you expect being a CS major?

Dr Reed is tough for sure. This class with him is fairly difficult for being an intro HOWEVER, he will help you with absolutely anything you need from him. I went to office hours a few times and emailed him with assignment help and he was both fast and friendly in helping me. if you want to be a computer science major take him. youll learn alot

Great for an intro class. Understands pacing for people who are new to coding. Super helpful, and the assignments make it so that you really learn. Tests can be difficult because they are written, and you can't test your code. Might not be the easiest professor but so worth it to take.

Most helpful teacher at Creighton. The guy will email you any hour of any day. Assignments really are not too hard as long as you pay attention, and are actually fun to complete. Tests are written, which can be tricky, but he grades lighter on the tests. Great teacher.

Dr. Reed is a very skilled programmer, and he expects a lot of his students. The homework assignments are very challenging and will require some time, but that's the nature of programming in general. Grade is comprised of 6-8 homework assignments, daily quizzes, and 3 tests. Pay attention in class and go in during office hours and you'll be fine.

Comment:
Dr. Reed is extremely knowledgeable about programming, and shows it in lecture. The class format is laid-back; he sits at the front and goes through very systematic PowerPoints that explain concepts. The coding assignments are definitely challenging, but not impossible. Grade is made of 2 tests, 1 final, 6 coding assignments, and daily quizzes.

Iam a Pre-Law/Accounting Junior. Class Tests Avg.=LITERALLY 68 or below.Test aren't even the worst part. CODE EXERCISE PACKETS=SPENT 8+hrs with 6 classmates *attempting* it. HE DOES NOT/WILL NOT EXPLAIN CODING! That single reason is why 4/30 got B or^ on exams. If YOU take him, YOU will regret! 4/30 got B or^. Thats all you need to know. Just Dont!

Do Not Take! This is coming from a regular Creighton student whose interest do not lie in this class. To get a A, you have to devote a ton of time. He is very unclear on most things. Computer Projects are unclear and Time Consuming. I am not trying to be harsh. Our entire class dealt with. He is NICE, but don't matter when it comes to your grade!

Explains computer concepts well and is very enthused about the material. The assignments and tests usually implement what you learn which is nice. Despite what others say he teaches you the core concepts but encourages you to attempt to better understand them in your own way. He doesn't just passively let you teach yourself.

The problem with rating a professor on "helpfulness" is that it doesn't distinguish between "willing to help" and "provides useful help". Extremely short, cryptic comments aren't very helpful - no matter how plentiful. Also insists students teach themselves how to do every assignment. What, precisely, he thinks a teacher is for is a mystery.

If you are interested in comp. sci. at all, take Dr. Reed. He explains the material thoroughly (sometimes a little too much) and is very helpful if you get stuck. The material isn't nessecarily hard, but it is time consuming. He does give ample time to complete assignments though, which helped me alot.

Dr Reed was really great. While the material was a little difficult at times (that's not his fault), he was able to explain it really well in class. He's also a really personable guy. He made sure plenty of times that everyone has access to all the help they need, and even gives classtime devoted to working on the assignments!

Not as difficult as some may claim. Expects you to learn the material but he explains it very well and is helpful if you are having trouble. He even gives 2 or 3 free points on each test so a 52 or 53 point test would be graded out of 50.
