Comment:

Professor Pines was by far the kindest professor I've ever had. She was extremely accessible outside of class and was willing to provide further clarification and extensions upon request, which were often very useful because she tends to give vague criteria and tight deadlines. She listens to her students and is very humble.

Comment:

Every single reading assignment came with a two-page response, but you didn't need to try very hard on them. The class requires heavy discussions that you lead a class. Pines is a tough grader, but you can learn a lot from her. You'll have to write longer essays in this class than studio. It was work, but I loved Comics. Try and you'll get an A.

I love Davida! She was always available for office hours. The materials she gives is difficult but ask questions and participate and the class will be fun. The essays are hard and difficult but if you do the work and go to office hours you will get a good grade.

Professor Pines is absolutely fantastic. She is by no means easy on grading or workload, but she cares so much about her students and what she is teaching that it totally makes up for it. If you are struggling at all, go to her office hours.

Professor Pines is a mediocre professor at best. Her expectations for her class are sometimes insane giving us a two papers and a project due during the last three weeks of classes (including finals week). Oftentimes she fell behind on grading work and simply fixing her feedback on was not enough to get an A on papers.

Professor Pines is an overall solid instructor. Her grading may sometimes be harsh and her criteria unclear, but she wants everybody in her class to succeed. She takes a while to return papers, which makes revisions sometimes an impossible task. Class content is overall interesting, but comics analysis is difficult and tedious at times.

Professor Pines is a kind person who is excited by your ideas and the content of the class, serious comics. If you want to get the most out of the class, you have to put a lot of time and thought into your assignments and in-class comments. She is a difficult grader, but if you demonstrate your genuine interest and effort, you will do fine.

Professor Pines is amazing. I had her for a comics seminar in KHC and it was really my favorite class. Lots of work and papers but also very interesting. Super engaging and in love with what she's teaching.

I love Professor Pines!!! Her class is interesting because she provides students with opportunities to make her assignment topics personally meaningful. She also gives excellent feedback and is really helpful during office hours. If you make an effort to go to class everyday and stay engaged, you will gain valuable skills in research and writing.

She's a very nice person and she does make an effort to keep the class interesting, but her class is a complete waste of time. She does offer help regarding papers, but it is very unclear as to what she actually wants. Basically I can't wait for this class to be over.

Prof. Pines is very helpful and knowledgeable. Her assignments can be tricky and difficult at times, but in the end your writing will improve tremendously; I learned so much this year in her class. Most of her writing assignments are interesting. I would definitely take her class. Attendance is very important.

Professor Pines is the nicest most knowledgeable teacher i've ever had. She is an amazing teacher and really helped improve my writing skills. Because of her, I can write a great paper. Although her assignments are unclear, she is always trying to make an effort to keep the class and everyone interested. If you do get this teacher,u are really luck

This woman is AMAZING. One of the kindest, most intelligent professors at BU. Loves what she teaches, loves to help her students, and overall, a great person. She will improve your writing immensely, and she's always willing to meet with you about a paper, no matter how busy she is. Her kindness is so refreshing. I love Prof. Pines!!!!!

A horrid woman who cannot teach a class if her life depended on it. Is on a complete power trip when it comes to grading and critiquing writing, yet hasn't published a single piece of writing on her own. Late papers, disorganized, constantly running home because "the babysitter" called... This woman spends too much time working on her "novels."

Very nice woman. She tries to make the course interesting and to get the students involved. Her exams are really long and hard. we had to write a research paper in 90 mins. My hand was going to fall off!
