Comment:
Dr. Lamoureux was a great professor. His 150 course is a easier version of his 350 course. Beware of his midterm and final; he likes to ask specifics, but if you memorize everything, you will do fine. He also makes it obvious what is important. He an easy marker when it comes to papers; just present your beliefs.

Denis has designed this class to be an excellent elective. It does not require an awful amount of work and it genuinely is a very interesting course. The MC portions on the midterm & final are a little tricky, however, the written and fill in the blanks make up for it. Denis is a great guy and truly admirable! I am an agnostic and enjoyed it!

Super interesting course with a fantastic professor. Multiple choice questions on his tests are tough but not impossible. You get the questions for the written parts of the midterm and final way ahead of time, and Denis will give tips for the exams in class. This course is built to help students develop their views of the topics explored in class.

I bet most of you are debating whether to take the tests or the papers. TAKE THE PAPERS. Watch every single video, comes with notes&handouts beautifully. Make sure to answer each section of the prompt question, eg. describe and defend your views, DO BOTH. 65% on the first paper, but later scored a 97% and managed an A+. You have complete control.

Dr. Lamoureaux does try to help you as much as he can by providing you with 40% of the midterm and 60% of the final on the first day and gives you a detailed study guide. Stay on top of this class though because it's very easy fall behind. I got an A- somehow even though I was so lost like 90% of the time. His grading is pretty ambiguous.

Comment:
Course was extremely interesting and Lamoureux seems but I wish he offered an essay + in-class version of the course. Also a little unclear on what grade you end up with, seeing as I got an 84 and got a B+... sorta salty about that tbh. Also think the word limit is a bit dumb for the amount of material he's asking you to incorporate into the essays

I took the online essay-only version. I think the criteria for the essays could be a little clearer (you kinda figure it out as you go). Very interesting course and open professor, but definitely not an easy-A. I'd recommend it if you have any interest in science and religion. As a sidenote, I do think it's a LITTLE overhyped.

Took the flip class. Dr Lamoureux is very friendly, approachable and accommodating, and this is an extremely easy course to pass (gives 40% of midterm and 60% of final first day). Course goes over an incredible amount of content. He gives content study guides for the MC, but it's an overwhelming amount of memorization and concepts to know. Hard A

I took Dr. Lamoureux course on science and religion as an elective for my engineering program. I must say that this course is very enlightening and fun at the same time even though there is a lot of papers to write. Although this is an online course, I believe that the explanations he gave through his online videos along with the notes outstanding!

Most interesting course I took this semester. Great prof, explained material well; he also focuses and elaborates on harder sections of the course. Paper grading is also very clear and it is stated why you got docked marks in certain areas.

Grading in this class is incredibly vague, requirements for assignments are also vague. Good class to take for sheer interest but not when graded, no clear rubric, feels like hand waiving. avoid.

Cons: took the online version- the assignments look easy but SUOER vague. I didn't know how to answer the very first assignment, ie. essay style? or personal reflection?? In the end, you can do any format but it must include everything. Tip: don't contradict yourself or else minus marks Pros: Very insightful, not much to elaborate here GREAT PROF!

He's a great guy and the class is super straightforward. If you're an atheist though, you're going to find this class really tough to sit through. Your faith or lack thereof doesn't affect your grade, and Prof. Lamoureux is super respectful, but I just fundamentally disagreed with so much of what he taught. Easy course though.

Denis is such an inspirational professor. If you take the Flip Class which I believe they all are, you go to class once a week for 50mins and then watch online videos 1.5-2hrs. 60% of the final (worth 55%) is stating what you believe and why. Multiple choice is hard beware but I think this class should be required for all science students.

Denis is the best professor I have ever had. He works hard to expand your knowledge of how science and religion interacts, without it being too hard on you. His night class has one 50 minute class a week and its fairly easy to do the work. He even gives you his house phone number to call if you need help, which shows how much he cares

Dr. Lamoureux is a great, helpful prof & this class is really interesting. Extremely clear about assignments and gives midterm and final prep sheets, as well as gives Q's worth 60% of final at the start of class. Class once a week and 5 min quiz each class, but tells you exactly what to memorize for them. Put in good effort & you'll likely do well.

Extremely engaging class. Everyone should take it. It will broaden whatever you believe about science & religion (on either side). Denis is a cool guy. He's Dr. House of Science & Religion. I did the flipped class, so beware of putting in time outside of class. Tests were harder than expected. MC is extremely HARD! Overall worth taking. I got a B+

No reason not to get an A. He gives you EVERYTHING!!! I did the flipped class. It was important to prepare your notes before class. You do that work every week and you won't need to spend hours studying for exams. The class was very interesting, really opened up your world view. He loves students who speak up!! Be heard and study = A
