Hardest class you'll take. Take a different teacher, one that actually cares if you succeed. First C+ in 3 years. He's rude & not helpful for even small questions after class. Asked to get my exam accommodations signed but was told he doesn't have time for this.. then talked to a student about football.. Attended each class, got 25/50 on attendance

D. Tidrick doesn't want to give you an A. He wants you to participate, but not ask any dumb questions. To him, every question is dumb. Good luck on his exams--no matter how hard you study you probably won't get an A on them. Your homework will take you about 1-2 hours and is only worth 1 pt. Take it with Ceffarrati if you want to understand audit.

uses VHS tapes from the mid 90s as supplements you his lectures. if you dont read the book, do the end of chapter questions, and know the vocab you wont pass the quizzes that he has every other class session. he also takes points off for stupid things and he expects perfection.

Comment:

Hardest class I've had at NIU by far. Use his 'brief notes' a lot because that's where a lot of test questions come from. I would give him a higher rating if he treated his non-BAP students with respect, but he doesn't. Very subjective teacher. I would recommend getting on his good side and joining BAP. Tests and quizzes are hard. Class is curved.

Many students dont like Dr T, but he does his job. Hes tough, but prepares you for the CPA. Many of his test questions are from past CPA exams. If you dont do well, its because you dont pay attention in class. He is clear on what will be on the exam for essay questions, its straight from lecture. Highly recommend if you want to succeed at niu

Dr. Tidrick is an excellent teacher. He is so knowledgeable and passionate about the material which makes class more enjoyable. The class is difficult but he does a good job explaining the concepts well. Also, his curve is so generous which helps. Just pay attention in class and make sure to participate because those points could make a difference.

Participation points for asking questions and being involved in class, but when you ask them he will make you feel stupid. His lectures are mandatory, so he can talk to you about Texas and the "good old days" of auditing and reading articles he wrote. No content in the lectures. Be ready to read and teach yourself. Heavily curved.

Lots of homework but manageable... only 2-3 problems per assignment. Spends too much time talking about past experience that is barely relevant to the course. Get ready to teach yourself.... one good thing is that the exams are curved, however most questions have more than one right answer choice and you have to pick the best one. I don't recommend

Dr. Tidrick is the best professor I've had at NIU. He explains concepts clearly and his lectures are very engaging. He provides great feedback, especially on current events. His tests are difficult, but they are fair and you have ample resources at your disposal to do well. Great professor, can't say enough good things about Dr. Tidrick.

Don Tidrick is by far the best accounting professor in Northern Illinois University, arguably in the nation. He truly cares for his students and want them to succeed. I am proud to have taken him and am excited to start my career as an external auditor. EDP baby!!!!

Didn't feel like I learned much about auditing from him. He spends classes telling irrelevant stories. Pop quizzes and drops the lowest two. One group project. Three exams, very hard, but curved. If there's another professor, don't take him.

Tidrick is one of my favorite accounting teachers at NIU. He truly cares about his students and wants to see them succeed. He really tries to help prepare his students for the CPA exam. Tests are curved heavily since the material is so difficult. If you really want to learn the material then take Tidrick.

Tough class, but I learned alot in it . He really knows what he's talking about, and has high expectations of his pupils. He can be rude and disrespectful in lecture towards students, but if you go to his office hours he may warm up to you.

very knowledgeable! he is funny and shares a lot of stories, i mean it he talks a lot about himself! exams are tough and requires a lot of studying and hard work. But if you want to take CPA or if you wanna succeed in your accounting career take him. Also, save his lecture notes to review them later they are very important.

Loves to stoke his ego with fond memories of his past accounting days and how he hobnobbed with the best of em. He spends over half the class reminiscing instead of teaching. Basically he is out of touch with reality and has no idea how to begin teaching concepts and developing a firm foundation from the beginning. Terrible!

Dr. Tidrick is one of the best at the COB. His class is challenging, and it will help you understand assurance services and auditing. Attend class, participate, and study hard for exams. It's definitely possible to get an A in the class, especially with the curve.

He is very knowledgeable on the subject so you can't really get away with not studying since the tests are multiple choice (hard questions) and written and he is very picky. I think the curve is more than what is stated on the syllabus so if you keep up with the class on the exams you'll probably do better than you expect. Do the extra credit!!!

One of the best lecturing professors that I have experienced. He knows the material very, very well. He expects almost exact wording when giving definitions. The learning curve is very steep but it prepares you for the CPA exam. Heavy class curve for final grade. Great teacher that truly cares about the success of his students.

This is a super hard teacher who is currently driving me crazy. His tests are super hard and very specific. The directions are not as clear as he thinks they are. If you think you have explained a lot, think again. Good luck to all the his future students, just remember that he curves!
