Comment:

She's awesome! It seems either you love her or hate her..but you should love her! I liked the classes and her stories. She should do better on time management but she's so into what she teaches and the subject is so interesting that it's easy to be carried away. Not an easy class, you better be always prepared, but liked how enthusiastic she is.

She never sticks to the syllabus, and is consistently one sided, going off on her unbalance tangents for hours. The essay and mcqs are not from prior multiple choice questions she has students take during the class term. No mention of 1st Amendment; and is rude! She is funny at times but has a chip on her shoulder. AVOID if possible.

Most people found her antics entertaining.I thought she should be more serious.Teaches the material fairly well,yet somehow manages to obfuscate issues with irrelevant tangential analysis.The exam required dexterity in exam taking strategy rather than knowledge of material and is based on one contrived essay and MCQ Not from quizzes as she claimed

Spahn is the most condescending professor I have had in law school. Whenever you talk or ask a question she looks at you like you're an idiot! She likes to put her students down and basically make them feel like they don't belong in law school. Be prepared to teach this class to yourself!

I agree with the comment about Tai Chi... she walks around the classroom babbling, without making much sense (if at all). She is hilarious, but at the expense of taking valuable time away from ACTUALLY LEARNING -- something our class never did. My worst 1L grade. I blame it on her scrambled teaching style, and inabilility to focus.

This professor is all over the place. Goes on tangents and skips through the readings. She makes a lot of inappropriate and offensive jokes in class. She is very condescending and talks down to students. Her saving grace is that she is hilarious. This class was like a one woman show. The textbook is riddled with typos.

She doesn't teach, she just tells stories and does Tai Chi. She has her own idea of what the legal tests are and she refuses to state them. She contradicts herself, cant remember the facts of the cases, and gets distracted before she can finish a sentence. During office hours she helps the people she likes and tell others they are screwed.

Absolutely awful. She doesn't teach, she just tells stories about what a great lawyer she is. The exam was a piece of crap, and I feel like I totally wasted an elective. Also, her ideologue politics will annoy you to death. She seems to believe that no counter legal arguments can ever exist. They're called dissents, lady. Avoid at all costs.

She's FANTASTIC! ConLaw is now my fav subject. She has no tolerance for BS or slackers. Work hard & you will get a fair grade. Some dont like her politics but shes a great storyteller who will teach you the subject w/out you even realizing.1st Amend is not included b/c the school dropped it for LRWII. Dont blame Spahn just take the separate course.

Worst professor ever! Will not teach you anything. No 1st amendment, spend at least 10 class hours talking about forefathers and Obama, and how much she hates Bush. Useless!!! Final was hard. Has an attitude, and if she is having a bad day, so will you. Far away from reality, lives on a cloud. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

Some people like her, but she drove me crazy. Intimidating as hell and clearly has a bit of an attitude if you get on her bad side. Didn't learn the material the way one would probably expect. She would go on tangents about how much she loves Thomas Jefferson and the founding fathers. Final was extremely hard, but got an A, which was a miracle.

Probably the best professor at NESL. Explains difficult concepts very well and is extremely helpful and respectful of people's opinions. While she's pretty liberal, she plays both sides of the argument very neutrally, and I commend her for that. I wish we had touched on a few more issues in con law, but came out having learned a lot. Funny too.

Great Professor on Free Speech and Religion. She took time to explain things to me and was actually personally interested in what I wanted from law school. She inspired me to set goals for myself that I thought were unattainable and I feel fortunate to have had her. Not sure why the bad reviews from Con Law, but i had her for upper division

Very wise and intelligent woman. She is brilliant not only with the law but with legal career politics as well. She is like a soothsayer--everything she says to you about yourself and about life in the legal profession always ends up being right on, even when you don't want it to be. I did not like her when I first met her, but she is actually one of the best sources of information at NESL I have ever encountered, and slowly my opinion of her changed dramatically. You will hate her sometimes for being so honest with you (her delivery can be brutal), but as time goes on you will realize that she really only has your best interest at heart. Listen to what she tells you, she knows a lot.

Count the number of times she says what she charges per hour. Never got around to con law, instead taught class on how to be super-liberal and spent most of the time criticizing America.Civil War worse then World War 2?? What's the first amendment??

where to start? A total experience. Con Law - she does not cover vitally important areas. Take her for her optional classes though (employ; 1st amend) she loves the material and extremely animated. She is really funny too. I second the other review - if she is not happy, just get the hell down. And prepare for her class for Con law every day.
