She is the type if its not the way she wants then you get the grade for trying and thats 75%. She is very picky on how you write your papers and discussions. She will give you feedback privately with many adjustments you should Follow. English can be hard for some and she does not take that into account.

Ellen is a great person. She is very passionate about her work, and she is very helpful. I have taken both an online and a face to face course with her. Directions are extremely wordy and sometimes hard to understand. In the beginning of both the classes, I was constantly emailing her to clarify assignments, but her personality makes up for it

Comment:
I took the creative writing course. Ellen's lecture style was a bit boring during class but she had a clear idea of what she expected for papers. We would learn about a style of writing in class, then use the same technique in our papers. She gave us good feedback on what we should fix. There was a bit of reading, but nothing too heavy.

Professor Lansky was a wonderful teacher. She was very organized, clear on her grading criteria, and everything was designed to help students learn. Her feedback was very good and helpful for revision. I learned so much from this course, and I would gladly take a course with this professor again.

She wasn't the worst teacher that I have had. She is still not the best though. She is a crazy teacher who talks about how she rebelled in the 70's and all the things she did as a kid. She gets off topic a lot. You don't even have to show up to class to pass. In class she talks about random things not even related to the class.

She acts as if college student are taking her class and her class only. She assigns a TON of reading in a very short period of time and is sometimes unclear in her directions. It's hard to understand what she is looking for in your work. I would never take a class by her again. If your someone who has a busy schedule, avoid her class if possible.

Professor Lansky has good intentions with her course design but it can be too much information and too much criticism. It was difficult to work with some of her feedback because it seemed very "copy paste" and not specific to what I wrote.

Homework assignments are worth 5 points, tests are 10 questions, worth 0.5 each & the tests are worth 5 points & "participation" is worth 1 point. She doesn't give 55 often, but mostly 4.5, 4.25. etc. She set me up for failure & I would not recommend her to anyone. Don't waste your time with this class because it will ruin your GPA.

Very rigid in what she wants from the papers, which is frustrating when the instructions are often times unclear. Great teacher, I just didn't like her style.

Not a clear teacher, assignments are hard to understand. Would have taken a different teacher given the option. Very small amount of points given which makes it hard to get a good grade. The peer reviews were a pain. 150 word review was mandatory. Some people are not good writers which made praising them through the Lerman model difficult.

She's a wonderful person but her teaching skills are to be desired. The amount of information on D2L was overwhelming and most of it was instructions, little to no explanation. She also used partial words and abbreviations that made finding things a pain. I got bad grammar points on multiple occasions with no explanation for what required fixing.

The class is interesting, but alot of personal opinion is thrown in. I was consistently given poor points for grammar, but was never told what had to be fixed. The feedback was generic and the information on D2L was overwhelming. It mostly consisted of instructions with little to no explanations. Grading takes quite a bit of time to come back.

Writing & Research was a time-consuming class BUT it IS a 4-credit class. Dr. Lansky clearly sets expectations and my classmates consistently failed to meet them. She gave specific instructions on how to critique someone else's work and how many times and people would ignore that time and time again. I know this is a community college but really!

I took this online class and hated it. I suggest taking English classes before this class, because 99% of what she grades on is grammar, punctuation and citation-rarely ever content. I spent six hours writing a paper that she docked points for reasons that were not in my paper, because she skimmed through it. She made mistakes.I dont recommend her

I took Lansky for online short stories. Pretty easy class. Not too boring either. There was about a post a week and a quiz every other. A couple tests too. All open book, so not hard at all. If you read the stories and do your posts you'll get a good grade.

I consider myself a decent writer, but her grading guidelines and specifications for essays are really harsh. I'm toward the end of an online course and I don't even feel like there a grading curve for 'improvement' even though I feel I have improved. Pretty harsh overall and her comments don't help, stay away from her online courses at the least

I took english 1108, and find this harder then english 99; which I took less then a year ago. I took this class as an online course, and found out that all course work was due on fridays. This would not have been bad if she would have used weekends to grade; but not. Her grading scale is pretty high, and you'll be lucky to get a B.
