Emily is the best professor I have ever had. She has given me more academic opportunities than anyone else and is a passionate professor who would drop everything for her students. She is a tough teacher but if you pay attention and care about the subject, you will excel. She does have a bit of homework but her classes are so fun it's worth it

Emily is one of the tougher professors in Comm because she expects a lot but she offers help and is really supportive of students. I worked harder in this class than in most and enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.

She is so sweet and genuine. She knows a lot about tons of different things around campus and has resources for anything you need. She takes the time to get to know students and adapts to their learning style and pace. Open notes for quizzes and exams so take good notes. Amazing professor all around!

Important ideas were reinforced in quizzes and exams. Readings were online. Project focused on learning how to communicate with people who are culturally different from you and making a friend from another country was the highlight of my term.

This is a 100 level class and she treats it otherwise. She gives a lot of homework. Overall probably the worst and hardest class out of all the Comm111, get a different professor!! Trust me.

Comment:

For a 3 credit course she requires a lot of work and outside activities. This class was supposed to teach (according to the syllabus) verbal and non verbal ways to communicate with others from a different culture. I learned no such skills. This is basically a multicultural class. I was very disappointed.

Incredibly thorough class. Do not take any class by her expecting an easy A. She is incredibly smart and expects commitment to her classes-be prepared to read! But if you're looking to learn some truly applicable information, she is the lady to learn from!!

I did not want to take this class, but was required. Pleasantly surprised. Class was fun, I learned a lot about becoming a better speaker, and Emily was always available to help out. Highly recommend taking her class if you need Public Speaking.

Boring class. Lots of reading and writing, but take it if you don't like rhetoric from Mayhead. This class isn't too bad. Did a powerpoint final and turned in weekly assignments based on chapter readings. Make sure you do them correctly & you'll be good. No final, exams, or quizzes, just lots of busy work.

Took it over summer. a lot of tedious assignments, but not too tough. The exams and quizzes were open note so take good notes. She's a passionate professor & cares about the curriculum. she also is highly knowledgeable in virtually everything! The class has a project that requires you to make a video on moviemaker or on a Mac. She doesn't like BS.

Easy class. We had daily debates on the chapters we read for HW. Plec is passionate and very helpful and caring about students. We wrote our opinions of each chapter debate and turned in. Had a final exam that was take home. It was a little challenging but did well.

Emily Plec is a wonderful professor. Not only does she genuinely care about her students, she cares about the subject material she presents. I have enjoyed every one of her classes i have take here at WOU. If you want to be challenged and stretched in learning new things, take classes from her!
