Only 3 grades- a paper on a long ass book, a midterm, and a final. All he does for lectures is read off the handouts posted online, not even a powerpoint to make it less boring, just stands there and talks at you. Attendance isn't even mandatory. One of the worst classes I've ever taken.

Only 3 things that you are graded on, a reading project, and 2 exams, a midterm and final. Lectures are long and boring, its just him talking. You do not need to show up for class, you can look over the worksheet if you wont be there be fine. Mogren is nice and funny, and gives you a fair grade curve.

There are only three grades in the entire class. One is a paper written about a book that he assigns, the other two are the midterm and the final, both of which are essay and short answer. He stands there the entire class period and talks at you, he is very passionate about it but he goes off on tangents a lot!

Professor Mogren's lectures are boring and hard to sit through. I hardly ever went to class because I couldn't focus. I do not recommend this class unless you can understand the material from the handouts. Everything that is on the tests are on the handouts, so attending class really isn't necessary.

Really great and in depth lectures. Speaks very organically and doesn't just read a powerpoint for 2 hours. Really loves history in a Bob Ross kind of way, and kinda looks like him too. 2 big papers, 4-5 tests, and a final. No graded HW. No textbook, just a little cheap paperback civil war book (about 300p) that you do a book report on.

Professor Mogren is a fairly easy teacher to get along with. He doesn't give out homework nor does he care if you show up to class. You only have three grades a mid term, a paper, and a final. He lets you revise your paper for extra credit at the writing center. He's a fair grader and will booster your grade up if you're in-between two grades.

He talks about 10 major topics in U.S. history 95% and dozens of little topics the other 5% of the time and then grades you on the 5% he barley talks about. He only has three grades in the entire course and only lectures his class. No discussions, just lecture.

only 3 grades the entire semester and no textbook. I failed by 6.5 points and will not retake this class with him next time. Exams are tough and he gives you broad handouts to read and that's where you're supposed to get your info from... do not choose this teacher unless you are amazing at history

Lectures are boring, but you can print out the notes or follow along. Class isn't really mandatory if you can read the notes and understand them fully. One 14-page paper, a midterm and a final. Set up a writing center appointment at the start of the semester, because you can get extra points on the long paper. Ask for help if needed. He is so nice.

You do not need to be a history major to do well in his class. If you have any shred of want to do well, you will do well. His class is set up simply - 3 assignments, but he curves at the end. His tests are NOT difficult if you put in some sort of effort. You know beforehand what he wants on the assignments, as he lays it out very well.

Mogren is a really nice guy, funny and entertaining and all that. But as a prof, he's a bit hard to follow. Only 3 grades in the class: midterm, book review, final. No extra credit. He doesn't believe in PowerPoints so lectures are long and tedious. only sort of follows the outlines he posts on blackboard. Not a good class if you don't like history

Long papers but the scope of the class is so wide that you are able to choose your own topics. There are some lectures that were insufferably long but otherwise, awesome teacher.

Not satisfied with this class at all. With three grades total it becomes easy to do poorly. He never gives extra credit and comes off as a hard ass with grading. Since the test are short answer its hard to be right or wrong. As a person hes interesting but his teaching is rubbish. I would never recommend this class.

Interesting teacher, nice and funny. Enthusiastic about class. Long, stand up lectures. If you are not into history, don't take this class. Short answer exams. Only 3 grades: Midterm, paper and final. Attendance not mandatory and lecture notes posted online but each handout is about 9-10 pages. Should go to class to understand lecture for exam.

If you're into American History and like long and boring lectures, this is the perfect class for you. Mogren is a really interesting person, but not so great of a professor. There's only 3 grades in the class. 20 point paper, 35 point midterm, and 45 point final. That's it. Attendance isn't mandatory, he posts his lecture notes.

very difficult if you are not a history person. only 3 assignments in my class: paper, midterm and final. the class was out of 100 points. class isnt mandatory, i went to every class and could not focus at all, it was a lecture with his notes every time. also his final/midterm was essay, no multiple choice. there was a nice curve, but still hard.

He likes to talk. That's all he does. He'll just walk in and talk non-stop for entire length of class. To be honest, his exams are completely based off the handouts so it's up to you if you want to listen to his BS or not. Boring book review. Just do it right away. it'll be a pain if you delay it until midterms.

There were only 3 grades in the class, a book review, midterm and final, if you follow the guidelines for the book review you will be fine and if you reread handouts for midterm and final you will be fine. It isn't necessary to go to class so don't. He is monotonous and you will do fine if you don't.

SO HARD:( I'm trying so hard to pay attention to what we're learning but it's so difficult if history just isn't your thing...Our class is out of 100 points- 14 page paper is 20 points, midterm was 35 points and the finals 45 points. No extra credit and the exams are essays, no multiple choice.
