This class was great, you know what to expect for each assignment, and he's always available via email if you get stuck. All the resources we need are provided to the students in a clear manner. I took this class during COVID, and it was an easy transition from in-person classes to online classes since all the work is independent.

This Professor is really nice and caring. He makes sure that everyone understands the class and tends to speak in funny and sometimes weird metaphors. You will not regret taking this teacher! He is very polite, even to the most annoying or stubborn student.

Take him during J-term if you want to kick back and have fun. He has the biggest ego of any teacher that I've had in my life, but it was forgivable given how easy the class was. He cares about the material and his students - I'd take him again if I could.

This professor is just awesome! I took this class in the fall of 2012 (my first semester in college) and he allowed me to become confident in programming. His clarity is exceptional, and the class was one of the easiest I have ever taken in college. His class is why C++ is still my favorite language, even in the Python-heavy physics field!

He makes it easy to understand as long as you pay attention and go to class... I skipped a couple and had a lot of trouble, he helped me get my grade up to a C. He grades everything quickly and you will always know your grade. Does make cheesy jokes once in a while. No textbook assigned.

Comment:

Dr. Wheeler is a great teacher. Took this over JTerm. No homework, but had a portfolio due at the end of the semester. Some classes were boring, but others were, well, fun! Take the time to play with math when you take 1240, it's worth it!. Besides, Dr. Wheeler is a genius and interesting to talk to about math or computer science.

He is a very nice, helpful, sometimes-witty professor. The class was challenging and time-consuming, but I never took computer science in my life. In the end, I learned a lot, and I enjoyed the graphics program he created.... He really knows his material well!! He also saves you a good $200 out of your wallet because you don't need a textbook.

AMAZING teacher!!!! I also had computer science with him. I really enjoyed his classes. He does a superb job of making content clear and does not use a textbook. Also, I din't have a final in either class with him, just a final project.
