Comment:

I took French 1&2 with her in 2016-17. She was one of the most influential professors in my life. Her classes were amazing. She was clear and concise, yet would weave in fun facts and explanations, such as etymology. Thanks to her, I not only learned French but discovered in myself a passion for learning languages. I miss her classes a lot.

I loved taking Professor Kokovena's French class! I was very fortunate to have her for both French 1 and 2 (I hope I can take French with her again!) Her lectures are amazing. She explains everything clearly and truly cares about students. The course is structured well and information is presented logically. I have many great memories of class!

She teaches in a manner that you'll succeed. If you've never taken a foreign lang class before don't take during short session because it's a lot for single language speakers. Remember it's a 5 unit class not supposed to be an easy A, take yoga instead if looking for that or ask advisor. Teacher does take time to answer quest.,have common sense.

To learn French requires a lot of work. If you are not willing to do the work then you will not succeed in Prof. Kokovena's class. It's not a subject you can fake your way through. This prof. is there for you if you are there for you. She will not do it "for" you. I love this prof. she is full of life and brings so much francophone culture to class

Mme Kokovena's energy & enthusiasm made our 2hr 50mn classes fly by. She really cares about her students & the subject she teaches. She balances strictness & leniency well. The lessons felt clear 95% of the time. My favorite thing about her was that she made my whole class laugh out loud frequently. Awesome French 1 summer class.

Professor Kokovena : French is not something easy to learn but professor kokovena make the class wonderful and useful, you guys will figure it out together. successful lab,listen ebook , homework &pass exams. It's not so easy but It worth. After took her class, I can really talk with those french people with a good accent ( they told me).

Incredible teacher. Her class was the highlight of my school week. She taught me so much about the french language through her silly stories. She may assign a lot of HW, but she goes over each lesson heavily before assigning it. Her tests are easy as long as you use her study guide. I loved her class because she made it interesting. At the start this teacher was very disorganized, from her notes to explaining lang. lab requirements, she was not on it. BUT as the semester went on it changed dramatically, she became clear & organized & I grew to really like & respect her. You have to do all the homework to do well. I studied diligently for exams because I didn't know French.

Is an excellent teacher. Makes class interesting and fun, but doesn't tolerate nonsense. It's a foreign language so it's not easy, but she has a good way of explaining things. I highly recommend her.

This was my last quarter at West Los Angeles and i decided to work on my languages esp because my husband is fluent at french. This class was behind inspirational, she made me not only learn a language but learn who i am and build my character. Excellent teacher explains the techniques of a language more than memorization. have to attend class.

She is a nice teacher. Sort of a fair grader. Although she can be very confusing at times and really kind of fights you if you are asking a question during class. However, if you take the time to talk to her before class she's really cool. She tells you everything that is going to be on the test and how she will grade it. So that is nice.

She's not "hard" at all, she really cares about your success. Yes, she does laugh at your mistakes, but it's not meant to be offensive or to be taken personally. She makes things easier by telling you exactly what to study for the exam, she doesn't hide the exam like other profs. She's nicer to you if you are a good student. Study and you'll be OK.

It is not hard to understand her explanations despite of her accent. She is really smart, very knowledgeable, and loves French. Do your part of work and you'll be fine. Don't fool yourself: studying language is not easy, and if you have to blame someone - blame yourself first and study, study, study. Thank you, doctor Kokovena for your great class!

I want to believe that she is a nice person and wants her class to pass, but I had a really bad experience with her. She was sick a lot during the last few days of class and i ended up not getting the dedicated help or lessons I would expect for the final she gave us. She is also missing a lot of assignments from my grades, careless.

Comment:

Dr. Kokovena is hilarious, and she really cares about her students doing well. Very detailed and explains thoroughly. She wants homework assignments to be in perfect format, but she allowed us to redo the assignments. The class really isn't too difficult if you go to class, study, do the homework, pay attention in class, and go to the lab/tutor.

I loved professor Kokovena! She has a strong accent, but she made the learning experience fun, she's hilarious and will keep things light and easy for the most part. I highly recommend her for French 1. French is a difficult language, study, go to lab, and work with a tutor, I passed easy with a B.
