Comment:

Small Business Management. It was pretty tough, it would have been easier if I paid more attention. I suggest you READ the book, take good notes, and study hard. The final exam was on Break-Evan and Contribution Margin, which wasn't in the book, but I wished I paid more attention to that when I got to Accounting 202, as we were tested on those.

Very stern teacher and you have to do a lot of work in order to do well on tests and quizzes, I recommend doing all the suggested reading. Super dry reading

Comment:

He teaches the class like you are going to start your own business. Take good notes, do the extra credit early, study hard, and an A is possible. First half of semester is easy minus preparing for the exam (essay format). Second half is all about calculating break-even, preparing a proforma cash flow statement, and completing an income statement.

This class contains a lot of business information. Gary is also my adviser and he really cares about his students. He has tons of knowledge, just go to him when you need help! The class was very easy.

Comment:

This class was an awesome class to take and the expectations were clear. As long as you put forth effort and turned in assignments and extra credit it's an easy A. He took the time after every test to go over and throw out Qs that overall scored low. Best part, no final. 3rd lowest test is dropped! Quizzes are all open book, electronic.

Great teacher. The class was easy to follow and was self-paced & you could work ahead if you wanted to. The power point provided for each chapter was very helpful when taking notes, studying and for the tests. I would highly recommend this teacher.

Professor Selk is a reasonable grader. Sometimes the tests we took had crazy questions but he threw most of those questions out. He lets you earn up to 25 extra credit points.

Really easy course, basic information. Minimal effort required. I only worked on the course on days quizzes (10 ?s)were due or article reviews (200-word, 2 of them) were due. Textbook's index is also glossary, so quizzes were really easy if you did the reading (which I skipped on 2 of the quizzes and scored 7/10), still pulled off an A.

The topic was boring, the quizzes were quite difficult. I liked that I could know my grade immediately, but I wish the quizzes were easier. I probably wouldn't have taken it with him just because I found it difficult and boring.

I loved his class. He knows what he's talking about when it comes to business. Plus, he's willing to explain everthing and go through it with you. As long as you do all the work and pay attention, he gives you every oportunity to pass and get a good grade in his class

Good professor. Very helpful & he knows exactly what he is teaching. Doesn't take attendance & very laid back. Realistic professor, so he doesn't assign HW every class like other professors do. Be wary though, a very, very large chunk of your grade is based on two exams. Other than that, easy, "A," or, "B," if you do great on the exams.

Just completed the first summer session. I lerned more than I expected to learn. The c ourse was well organized and the Professorwas quick to respond to my questions. I would recommend this course to anyone needing a beginning course in business or a GER.

Just completed the course - I learned alot about how to start and run a small business. The teacher has the knowledge ability to make this a "MUST" class. As others have commented he should be teach more course at UAA. Thanks for the Great Class!!
