Comment:

Took Prof Clark for Intro to Honors in Fall 2019. He is clearly happy to be teaching this class. He has very high expectations of us as smart, thoughtful individuals and encourages his students to speak their mind. He encourages lots of participation and sharing. Your grade comes from a combination of participation, writing, and presenting.

The class I had was only worth 1 credit and it was harder than some upper division classes I had that semester. He talks so much yet he has explained nothing. He is very rude and calls you out on all mistakes during presentations.

If you don't know a lot about music this class will hurt a little. I'm awful at music and fundamentals are needed. You have to do about 2 pages a week with 3 concerts and a couple of projects, but he let us off the final so that is awesome

He is a really nice guy and this was my favorite class! But as the semester started to come to a close, he became more and more strict and snappy. But still a good class and great teacher!

Comment:

The sheer number of assignments cause this class to become overwhelming. The textbook is used for the numerous quizzes (buy from Amazon). This was my first honors class; I quickly realized there was quadruple the number of assignments given in this class than a typical music appreciation class. If you don't mind loads of HW he is decent professor.

Mr. Clark makes this class easy and entertaining for the most part. As long as you turn in all the assignments and at least pay attention half the time, an A is easy to come by. BUT! he has so many assignments, the class can become overwhelming. If you need another honors class, take this one.

Mr. Clark is a great professor. He loves what he does, and he made honors music appreciation such a fun class. He used a lot of different avenues of communication and varied his teaching style to help everyone learn. The tests are not too difficult if you come to class and read the book. I would definitely recommend him!

Clark is a really nice guy. Music Apprech is really easy, but I hear he's slowly making it a little harder. I plan on taking a colloquium with him if I get a chance. He really loves music

Mr. Clark is a wonderful man that clearly loves teaching and interacting with students. While the class was pointless, (fault of the curriculum) he made it tolerable. He's funny, helpful, and kind, but his personality alone couldn't keep me in the Honors program. (Don't waste your time if you were thinking about it.)

Just imagine taking a class taught by your grandpa. He's a really nice guy and cares about his students. The tests are a bit on the hard side, but that's just from someone with almost no prior music experience. He helps prepare you for them very well. His class is the one I look forward to during the day.

This was an honors colloquium on Latin; I also had him for Honors 1010 a while ago. Very nice, realizes that there are different learning styles and tries to cover a subject from different angles. Likes to focus more on making sure you learn than neccessarily so much on grades.
