Comment:
Wouldn't answer questions, heavy accent, very dull and slow lectures that were yet unclear and confusing, uses her own terminology and expects you to remember hers and the books, can't understand our accents, and pretty harsh on people who ask questions/don't show up/are lost.

Students grow frustrated with her because they find it difficult to learn and ask questions in her class. She is a bit condescending if you do not know what is going on and she has a manner of making you feel like a complete idiot if you don't know the answers. if you have to take 3601, find a different professor.

Comment:
The class is difficult, but not impossible. However, because it is difficult it is essential that a student should be able to ask questions and be given extra support and examples if needed, Genevieve does NOT do this. She answers questions in such a rude manner it takes everything in my power to not walk out the door in the middle of class.

Oh quit whining already! This class= NOT that hard, but it's LINGUISTICS, not ENGLISH, so when she acts like she's right, it's because SHE IS. I'll admit, maybe her lectures aren't the most gripping or well-organized, but she does her part in dumbing this stuff down. Show up, pay attention, and maybe go talk to her if you don't get it. That simple

Professor Escure is only interested in lecturing about her own research. If you ask her a question during lecture she will respond to you in a condescending manner. I highly recommend taking this course with another professor, if possible.

Hardest teacher on campus. Avoid at all costs. Pray you have a good TA. Questions are met with hostility and attitude, which is the opposite of a good teacher. Interesting topic, awful instruction.

She is a very nice person but her teaching is very off. The class is only based on 4 exams and that is it. She is very hard to understand because she speaks mainly french. Hard to learn English from someone you can not understand

Before taking professor Escure's class, I looked her up here on rate my professor. "How bad could she possibly be?" I thought to myself. The answer is very bad. She has no lesson plan, no focus, and takes offense when asked questions in class. Avoid at all costs.

I had Genevieve for my senior seminar this year. She is a fascinating person, however I think her teaching methods could use some improving. She likes to debate a lot and basically has an "I'm right, you're wrong" attitude. Her lectures are pretty unorganized and I really had no idea about what was expected homework-wise.

I wish I had paid more attention to the negative reviews on this professor before taking her class. She is abrasive and rude, and her lectures are extremely hard to follow because they are not well organized. She does not explain things clearly - it has nothing to do with her accent; it's her wording. Worst professor I've encountered to date.

No idea on how to be a teacher or how to communicate tough concepts. Lectures are confusing and thrown together. The TA will be your only hope.

Extremely unorganized lectures that have no flow, rude to students, intrusive and invasive - worst teacher I've ever had. Requests that students ask questions just so she can "tell you you're wrong" - refuses acknowledge that anyone has a point beyond hers.

Knows her stuff, just doesn't feel like teaching it. Lazy and smug seem to be her main attributes. Utulize the TA if you take a class with her. I get the feeling she doesn't really have anything to with the class besides running her mouth for as long as she can. Don't ask her anything because you'll just get a sneer and a "what do you think?"

The WORST TEACHER EVER. This woman needs to stop relying on her tenure and make an effort to be a decent professor. Her lectures are horrible unstructured, her assignments are incredibly unclear. Overall, avoid ANY class with this woman.

Prof Escure knows what she is talking about. She encourages students who are confused to go to her office hours. There she will really try to get to know you and help you. If you show her even the slightest investment in her class, she will invest in you.

The only good things I can say about this class were the T.A. and the textbook. I found the 3 hour lectures painful to get through. She gives homework assignments with no answer keys and I found the questions on the test unclear at times. If you're required to take this class as I was, I wish you luck.

She's French, and her accent takes some getting used to, but it's just a matter of listening and you'll have it down pat. You're in linguistics, for Chrissake. Disorganized, but an easy grader. Wants you to do well! It's your own fault if you don't put the work in, because she doesn't ask that much of you. The kids in this class are a bunch of goddamn idiots, so don't blame it on her if you do poorly.

Take this from ANYONE but her unless you're one of those people who have an abundance of time to dedicate to one class! Oh and don't go to her for help because she feels she is WAY to smart to help us students!

Professor didn't seem to understand when students talked, and vice versa. Surprises on her exams. Bigger surprises as writing project devloped new guidelines throughout year. She grades easily on paper, though. Lost control of lecture to stupid questions and much of lecture was redundant of past lectures.
