Gloria is the best professor I had at BYU. She isn't a babysitter, she won't pop quiz you or keep track of what you are doing. She also tries to weed out students who don't want to work hard until after the drop date...then the fun, mindblowing stuff starts. She is not easy, but you really learn in her class if you do the work.

I love Dr. Cronin SO SO MUCH! I loved her class. yes, it is so much work but at least with her your work pays off. I have had other professors who were rude and didn't grade fairly but Dr. Cronin is not one of them. I love her so much. She will blow your mind! If you want to grow as a person, take her class.

Professor Cronin is one of the most unclear/unorganized teachers I have had since starting college. If you want a good grade, I wouldn't take this class from her. If you just want to here some good stories and good philosophical theories and ideas then this is the class for you. Seriously though, you want a good grade, don't take her class.

Professor Cronin was energetic, demanding, and fascinating. I loved every moment in her class. She had huge expectations, and handing me back more than one essay, but once I understood what she wanted, I excelled. I LOVED her class and loved her. She was my favorite professor at BYU.

She is my favorite English teacher. She is a walking encyclopaedia of history, sociology, anthropology, literature, etc. Her class is worthwhile. I think this class is hard if you make it hard, which means not turning assignments in and not doing the reading. If you follow through on that, you are perfectly fine. I highly recommend it!

This lady knows her stuff! Lectures are at times a little slow but, hang in there. The content she teaches is worth it. You are required to read a lot in a short amount of time. Great books! Almost weekly papers but they are only 1 page single spaced. Loved the class and learned a lot. She's a great teacher.

Comment:
The class is terribly unorganized; you may as well throw away the syllabus as soon as she hands it out, because the assignments are whatever she feels like giving on that particular day-including massive reading packets never used again. Pompous: likes thinking she's the 'cool' professor, but is absolutely useless from an academic perspective.

She is fantastic. I can say she is the best English teacher I have ever had. She is like a walking encyclopaedia, you learn so much from her. Class discussions are wonderful, grading is fair, she demands in-dpeth thinking. Plus, you eat at her house for the midterm and final!

Comment:
Cronin is psychotic. She assigns dozens of extra 'packets' each week with little to no relevance and she never discusses them. I think she killed an entire forest in printing crap. Her lectures are unorganized and she is very arrogant in her knowledge which rarely applies to the course. Loved the material, just not the way she presented it.

The most amazing professor at BYU. I've taken three classes from her, and her intellect and lectures constantly astound me. She expects a lot from you, but allows you to rewrite if you're displeased with your grade. There is a lot of reading, but the texts are always incredible. Do yourself a favor and take as many classes from her as you can!

The phrase "best professor at BYU" is thrown around way too much on this website. Unfortunately it's the only way people can think of to be emphatic. It should be used less so that the best professor at BYU, Gloria Cronin, gets the credit. This woman is brilliant. Her classes aren't GPA killers, but she'll blow your mind daily. Guaranteed.

This woman's intention was if you aren't a feminist I will fail you. One time she told the class that we weren't examining the problems of the Mormon culture in reference to the feminist propaganda she was feeding us. The class was not a women's literature class, it was a feminist reeducation camp. Very disorganized homework schedule.

Dr. Cronin was AMAZING. Her lectures very interesting. To this day I still talk about her class and her teachings. She's really tough and asks a lot of you, but her grading technique is the best--it's based on your improvements at the end of semester. So, no matter how horrible you do on papers in the beginning, what matters is how you end.

This class was the most disorganized class I have ever taken. Dr. Cronin didn't stick to the syllabus at all, she would forget what she had assigned, and would require you to do go to things at a different class time. I went every day and I still had no idea what was going on. I took this class for cover my Am. Lit. requirement--wish I hadn't.

Most disorganized class I've taken in 5 yrs at BYU. Even though she got off track, she expected the class to magically know which assignments to do and when. Even added an extra book to the syllabus with just a month left to the semester. But I figured out Dr. Cronin's grading secret - parrot her own opinion, and she'll give you A+'s on everything.
